I just would like to let you know that Kentucky would go with Indiana because of the time period. Back before the territories became States or divided into counties. I thought my family where in Indiana in 1837 but they really where in Kentucky. I was looking at the maps of today and not the maps of that time period. I am very much interested in the Indiana and Kentucky people and area of the time before they became States. Now this goes for people looking in Kentucky that may have to go to Indiana. I hope you don't want to remove my name from the list because this is very helpful to our readers. Sharon Hannahs burkhart@air-internet.com
Keith I'm with you 100%. I have been in the Hosp and and am now home trying to recover. I do not know what your post said. But in the past I had a similiar experience. I was posting info on Missouri marriages and it was a mixed list of surnames. Lets say I was posting it to the Lawson List of Rootsweb. I was not doing it to clutter the list or any evil intent. It was because of my age and health that I Left the copy and paste list as it was and posted. Well the list owner got mad like the one on this list. I explained to that person I was trying to help others by doing what I did. I to was threathend with removal. But Turned around and mentioned that I was being removed like you. Well I was kept on the list afterwords. Some of these list owners do not know the meaning of kindness, help or aiding other people by what they post. I post to the Lawson List a lot. Know what? I dont have a DROP of LAWSON BLOOD in me. But have them in both sides of by lines. My Ggmo Riddle married 2nd a Lawson after my Ggfa died. Plus my middle name came from a Lawson Cousin on my Brookshier side. Then my people are like yours they came Ky to Indiana, Iowa and Missouri AND BY THE WAY I RECEIVED MANY THANK YOU'S FOR WHAT I HAD DONE. Stan Brookshier, Sr.
I recently received the following message From: "J Myer" <jmyer_1@hotmail.com> "Keith; In reference to the two messages you posted in reference to KY. were inappropriate on this list. This list deals with Indiana genealogy and not with Kentucky. Please see that it doesn't happen again. The listowner." Before I could respond to him personally, I was removed from the list. When he asked me not to do it again it sounded like he was going to keep me. I have rejoined under a different allias to bring this to the lists attention. My responce was "I am sorry to upset you, but I am sure that you know that a very large percentage of early IN settlers came from KY and many members of this list are interested in KY research. Not to Mention the extremely long State boarder that KY and Indiana share. I am sure that I am not the only person to live along the Ohio River that has had relatives move back and forth. That is one reason I am on this list, to find more of my KY relatives that went to Indiana, so it follows that Indiana researchers might be interested in there relatives from KY. Any lead even one to a dead end can turn up something. It will not happen again, but I do not feel that it was so inappropriate to get a warning, especially from a list as inactive as this one. Thank You Keith" I will now unsubscribe myself from this list. Keith __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! The Filson Club is one of the premier Kentucky history and family research facilities in the country. Many of us are or have been members and people travel from across the country to research there. I have seen it promoted on many rootsweb lists. The Filson Club has decided to increase its rates, doubling them in some cases. They are now charging non-members $10.00 a day for the use of their research library and members a $5.00 dollar fee. They do have a $100.00 dollar a year rate that does not have to pay the fee. The Director of the Filson Club will be at the Sept 25 meeting of the Louisville Genealogical Society. He will speak at 12 noon to explain the fees and to answer questions. It is requested that members and non-members show up for this very special meeting. The meetings are held at The LDS church on Hurstbourne lane in Louisville, KY. It is a couple blocks North of the I-64 exit across Linn Station road from the McDonalds. Please do not start a discussion on this on the mail lists, but if you can not show up please E-Mail your comments or support to mailto:lougensoc@yahoo.com ---------------------------------------------------- NetZero Platinum Sign Up Today - Only $9.95 per month! http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97

THERE SHOULD BE NO ATTACHMENTS IN THIS EMAIL I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. .I also wish to thank the patience of those regular subscribers for my frequent postings. I am forwarding a message I sent to Keith -- although I mention Kentucky he is very right about so many of our Indiana ancestors coming through that way. In my message to him I explained about how lists have to stay on the subject they were intended, and why this happened to him albeit so abruptly without another chance, etc. But in my message to him I also mentioned about some wonderful articles I have been allowed to put on an Indiana USGenWeb project site in my lessons ares -- and these articles are written about Kentucky persons and all types of things -- many times referring to Indiana persons or families who moved from Kentucky to Indiana. Because it also has a search engine in my lessons area persons from Indiana can check the surname and see if anything has been written about or by someone with that same surname in these articles by Ms. Gorin. So some of our Indiana persons just might want to check that search engine for the Lessons out too -- make use of this List here to let other researchers of both Indiana and Kentucky persons get a chance at some additional possible goldmine finds. The http address for this Lessons section and the Search engine is below in my response to him. They are >located at: http://www.usroots.com/~jmurphy/lessons/lessons.htm > >Not all of her items are there but if you look at the last ones it has her http address where she has the newer ones. She allows me to do this so it is like a mirror image of hers in case the site goes down or she loses the lessons (which has happened in the past and I am still seeking the old copies of those). Plus I have the old lessons there which she doesn't have on her new website. I try not to put all of them up at the same time as she has hers so she doesn't feel she is in competition with me for her own articles. She also has a book or several books for sale too. > >I suggest you use the search engine at the lessons address above and put in your surname and see if it gets any "hits". Then use your find or search for that surname on each "hit" you get (the search engine finds a page the name is listed on one to a million times and then it is up to YOU to find where on the page that name is showing up -- and using your browser's Find or Search For is easiest way to do this; remember to use the Next or find next until it shows no more found. > >BTW -- I don't think Ms Gorin has the search engine on her page so this simplifies things -- it has been awhile since I went to her page directly, and she may have put one there after I last visited. > >Now for the first subject -- I am so very very sorry that you got "kicked" from the INGEN List, but unfortunately just as right as you are (so many came from KY to IN especially my 3 counties which are along the Ohio River and where Ill and IN come together (Perry, Spencer, Gibson). But the whole state is filled with KY persons. But the list owner is right too since there are many many lists where you can post about anything and anyone, but a list for Indiana persons is unfortunately ONLY FOR Indiana subjects and one for Kentucky is FOR Kentucky only subjects. > >Personally it doesn't matter, but many persons don't want to wade through 50 states of info plus mulitple country items when they are only seeking info about their relatives in Indiana. That is the reason that rule was made. > >Sorry you got treated that way (and sounds like so very harsh -- they didn't even give you another chance) > >Judy M. > >At 09:28 AM 8/29/2001 -0700, you wrote: >>I recently received the following message From: "J >>Myer" <jmyer_1@hotmail.com> >> >>"Keith; >> >> >>In reference to the two messages you posted in >>reference to KY. were inappropriate on this list.
