    1. [INGEN] Census look up -RENTZSCH
    2. My great uncle lived in New Castle, Henry county, in the 1950's. His name was OTTO RENTZSCH. Would someone be able to check census records for that name in 1940, 1950, and 1960? He eventually moved to Celina, Ohio, but I do not know when. He had several sisters that I do not have much information on. I have none on his parents. Any record of the RENTZSCH surname would be appreciated. Thanks. Noreen in Oregon.

    2. J Myer
    3. >From : Gale Markley <rgmarkley@yahoo.com> Terry, Judy Boie, fellow Sprout family and Jennings Co. researcher, gave me your name. My gggrandmother was born in Jennings Co. in 1843/4. Her name was Phoebe Elizabeth Sprout, daughter of Amos A. Sprout and Matilda Jayne. They were married in Jennings Co. 19 Jan 1843. Phoebe married Stephen Woodson Baker 6 Dec 1868 in Jennings Co. My ggrandmother, Floy Annettie Baker, I suspect, was born there in 1874. My problem is I can't place Phoebe between my ggrandmother's birth in Feb 1874 and 1900. I located her husband Stephen in Texas (living with my ggrandmother and her husband) on the 1900 Census listed as a widower. I think Phoebe may be buried in Jennings Co., but I don't know this to be fact. I do know her father, Amos A. Sprout, is buried there. I am trying to plan fact finding trip to Jennings Co., but need to glean more information before traveling. In a family letter dated 1872, it's stated that Phoebe and Stephen's address was Six Mile Jennings Co. IN. Ever hear of it? Any suggestions? Phoebe was a descendant of James Chilton and Henry Samson, Mayflower passengers. I'm trying to get my paperwork together for the Mayflower Society. I would appreciate any information. 2. Judy m. Pigeon Roost, IN is located on US Highway No. 1 at the border between Clark County and Scott County. Look at an Indiana Map directly north from Louisville, Ky. It is the site of the last Indian massacre in Indiana and marked with an obelisk which tells the story. The settlement as nearly wiped out. Survivors fled and forted up south of there. There is a church and active cemetery. The old portion of the cemetery contains the grave of my great grandfather, a Civil War Veteran. Max Powers. MRPEY @ AOL

Indiana Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard will present the keynote address titled "The 1851 Constitution as Indiana's Platform for Building a Humane Industrial State." Topics of conference sessions will range from the failed efforts of Governor Thomas Marshall and Jacob Dunn Jr. to rewrite the 1851 constitution, to current and developing issues under the Indiana constitution, to how to teach the constitution in Indiana classrooms. Thomas Hamm of Earlham College and the 2001 Willard Heiss Memorial Lecturer will explore Quaker history, records and migration, including materials the Friends sent to the constitutional convention protesting the provisions excluding black migration. Registration for the conference is $25; $20 for Indiana Historical Society members. A buffet lunch will be offered for an additional $15. Registration is limited and the deadline for pre-registration is October 19. The evening celebrates the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Indiana Constitution that went into effect on November 1, 1851. Strolling musicians will entertain guests during a light dinner, followed by a theater performance at 6 p.m. The entertainment will be reminiscent of the nineteenth-century entertainment provided to legislators after the ratification of the constitution. Tickets for the dinner and theater performance are $20 and must be purchased in advance by calling (317) 234-1313. Tickets for the theater performance only will be available at the door for $10. Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has collected, preserved, interpreted and disseminated Indiana history. 3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. .I also wish to thank the patience of those regular subscribers for my frequent postings. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask.
