    3. I would think that the name "USGenWeb" would be protected by copyright since it is a unique phrase previously in wide spread use. That isn't to say it can't be registered as a reserved corporate name but under current copyright law, they may not be able to use it legally. I don't really know, but it would be worth looking in to. Scott Satterthwaite

    3. Hi fellow coordinators, I am wanting to add some census records and tax records to my site, and would like your input on the best way to input the data so that it can be indexed.  I am using Netscape Composer to create my pages, but I also have WordPerfet Suite 8 and Corel Web Designer.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. -- Adina Watkins Dyer, coordinator Tippecanoe Co. 1. Indiana Counties Available
    2. Richard Finkbiner
    3. We have three Indiana Counties that can be adopted and the price is right ;) First ,Bill Taylor has resigned Daviess County, not sure why but he did. Next, Dave Distler would like to find a good home for both Dearborn and Ohio Counties, his experience with them tells him that these two Counties should both go to the same person as they are closely related. Daviess and Dearborn does have a rootsweb accounts but Ohio does not, of course we should be able to get a rootsweb account for Ohio if needed. Let me know if you would like to adopt any of these. 3. Yeah, it's me again. In response to me earlier message Dave Distler has volunteered to make the InGenWeb presentation at the IHS conference. If you plan on attending let Dave know and I'm sure he would like to meet you. In other news, usroots.com should be back online this week,so if you have been getting complaints let them know to check back later in the week. Also, there is a new system in conjunction with the new query system, this one is to allow your visitors to post their obits....Well, not really their obit but their ancestors'.You don't need to be using the new query system to use the obit page and you will need to delete any obits that are still under copyright. It will work the same way the queries work in that you will get a message telling you when a new obit is posted.Let me know if you are interested in this and I will see about getting it set up for Indiana. Thanks to everyone that donated data to the Indiana archives, I think I am just about caught up now so if you have anything to donate like census,WPA records, births, deaths,ect.. let me know. I think that is all for now. Later.........Fred

Because of your efforts I easily found my husbands ggggrandparents in the early marriages before 1850 and again listed in the 1850 census. This gave me some very much needed information. Then when writing to the people in charge of the cemetery lists I found two more relatives there. You and your helpers have done a wonderful job. Keep up the great work!! I think this is the best state site I have worked in on having information available. I may of never found out this information if it hadn't been on the net. Thanks again. Brenda Daniel

    3. Here is a message from Brian and Megan on the County mail lists hosted by rootsweb. *************************************************** Please forward to CC's.... Brian Leverich has asked me to let you folks know that if you want to host a mail list for your county, you should go to http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/members/listrequest.html and request it.... Never mind the part about "sponsors only", and please DO name it by your account name (sscccccc) ss= state code cccccc=first six letters of county name... If your county account isn't at Rootsweb that doesn't mean you can't have the list...if you're not sure how to figure out what your account name would be, feel free to ask me or your SC, most of them know how it works.... The reason we're mentioning it is that the ability to host these lists is NOT restricted to the cc---whoever requests it will get it. Brian feels that the CC should have first shot if they want it. megan -- PLEASE NOTE URLS BELOW: pigoletto@worldnet.att.net * cochonnet@aol.com Megan Zurawicz, National Coordinator USGenWeb http://www.usgenweb.net -- http://www.usgenweb.org ***************************************************** Let me know if you need any help in setting your County mail list up. 2. Richard Finkbiner
    3. Hi All, Here are a couple of sites that you may want to check. I have a new picture of a Indiana CC,she promised it would keep the mice away but my mouse stayed on the desk when I looked. (I don't think this lady would hurt even a mouse.) Take a look at the new picture at; http://www.rootsweb.com/~ingenweb/indy2.html I have an account for Rush at rootsweb and now have the site running as an orphan there,if you have a link to Rush County Indiana the new site is at; http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrush/rush.html Rush still needs a host so if you would like to take it let me know. Also, the new query system now has a search feature for all US Counties using the system. In my opinion this is the best thing since sliced bread,it lets the visitor search for their surname in ANY County without having to run around in the dark.Give it a try and see what it can do,try searching for a commom name like SMITH Check it out at; http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwqury/qurysrch.cgi Remember, you can run your query page as you are now and still take adavantage of the new system, let me know if you want to use the new query system. I think that is all for now,be sure to let me know if you have any new ideas that might help our visitors. My idea of putting the Indiana tounships online didn't go over very well so I'm open to any other ideas.
