Sam, the whole page loaded very quickly, which is unusual for my 486DX2 50 MHz slow computer. The Courthouse was last to load, whole thing in less tha 5 seconds as compared to normal of 20 or 30 seconds minimum for most pages - I did just empty my cashe yesterday, though. The photo looks like a newspaper clipping with some fussiness - it looks natural and is a good photo. Hopes this will help! I forgot to include the URL for the Indiana Genealogical Society in my last message. http://www.indgensoc.org/ I think I'd better shut down for today and go out and cut horse weeds and canadian thistle! Sam Cline
When you have an opportunity, please take a look at the Indiana Genealogical Society page. Would you please let me know if there is any problem with the initial page loading, particularly the picture of the Indiana Statehouse? If I don't hear from you, I'll assume you experienced no problems. Thanks. Sam Cline
Well I'm really confused. Like you I understand that they are asking for us to add a link to them and they want to add a link to us. Where does this free copy for transcribing come in at? I'm rather confused about this issue. It's my understanding that all they are asking you to do is add a link to there site, correct? So why all the soul searching??? If you are concerned with the legitimacy of the company, then add a disclaimer to the link listing, saying something about not being responsible for the quality or legitimacy of the company. I am not trying to underplay everyone's concern, but I think that you all are more concerned then perhaps you need to be.... I got the same thing...except it was for Ripley. I politely replied I would have to think about it. Just because my mind goes on vacation and forgets to tell me is no reason to not try to think, right? 8^) Lori
Tim, Kenna, I guess everyone too. S-K Publications have donated a census book to the census project, that is the ones that they have published. The book contains the actual image of the census page and is much easier than going to the Library and working from there not to mention the cost of copies. They send the book to the volunteer transcribing the census and there is no charge. In addition to this they will scan any County ,any year that they don't have available now for twenty-five cents per page which is about the same as copies from most Libraries. They put these on a CD and will donate a second copy to the USGenWeb census project at no cost. Check them out, I think they deserve a link. Fred
SK Publications is the company that is DONATING the census books to county coordinators who volunteer to transcribe them. The company is working closely with USGenWeb and coordinators. Not to worry - they're on "our side"! ;) Judy Palmaffy Noble Co.
Hi Folks, I just received the following. Does anyone know about SK Publications? Are they legit? Has anyone else placed a link to them on their county web page? Heck, just checked.....Clinton and Jackson aren't listed as counties for their census records. Wish they were! Darlene

Hi All, I have purchased SK Publications census books in the past. Their books are copies of actual the census pages. They are very easy to read, or at least the ones I purchased. I have about 4 of the books and never had any problems. Darlene Anderson Clinton County Indiana USGenWeb Genealogy Homepage Jackson County Indiana USGenWeb Genealogy Homepage
Tim, I also got one for Vermillion County. Like you I am reluctant to make a link. I haven't had time to check out their site yet. Maybe I will get that done this evening. I am more suspicious now that I know that I am not the only one to receive this email. Kenna Vermillion County
Hi all, I ran across a great site entitled "History of Wabash and Erie Canal Through Huntington Co". It includes much more than just Huntington, and has photos, drawings, and lots of historical info on the contruction of the canal and it's affect on the State of Indiana. I've added a link from Wabash Co, and sent a note to Fred for the state page. The author, Terry Pepper, says he is currently performing a complete renovation of the site, to give it a better "look & feel." and also adding a considerable amount of new material. http://user.centralnet.net/jjosh/Home.htm -- Mike Sweeney / Yakima, WA / sweeney2@wolfenet.com USGenWeb Project http://www.usgenweb.org/ County Coordinator: Wabash Co, IN http://www.wolfenet.com/~sweeney2/wabash/ Yakima Co, WA http://www.wolfenet.com/~sweeney2/yakima/ Stevens Co, KS http://skyways.lib.ks.us/kansas/genweb/stevens
There is a new logo that you may want to display on your web pages, while you can put it on your UsGenWeb pages it is meant for your other web pages to show your support for the USGenWeb project. Here is the note on this; ======================================================= By popular demand (as in people were wanting to have a logo that they could put on their pages to show support for the USGenWeb and to advertise the project to their friends) a new page has been put up on the National USGenWeb Site. Please see: http://www.usgenweb.org/friends/friends.html Those people who want to display the logo showing that they are a friend of the USGenWeb, can also register their pages on which the logo will be displayed. The URL of the logo will then be displayed on the friends list at: http://www.usgenweb.org/friends/friendslist.html We also have a new section for success stories. We have been collecting them and sharing them amongst ourselves for a little while, but they belong to you all. Donald L. I've had reports from three different AOL visitors to the Kosciusko Co USGenWeb site that when they try to move to any link on the page it only (and always) takes them to the very first link encountered in my HTML code. One person reported that this happens everytime with the AOL browser, but when using Netscape, everything worked fine. Has anybody had experience with this? Any other advise I can give AOL visitors?
