Hello everyone - I invite you to come visit with me at my page at: http://www.usroots.com/kyseeker/public_html/indsc/INDSC.html If you have any questions or just want to talk - I'll be happy to hear from you. Hi InGenWeb! My name is Betty Sellers and I'd like to announce that I am very happy to accept the nomination that was made by Tom Ward and seconded by John West for the position as State Coordinator of the Indiana InGenWeb. For those of you that don't know me I am one of the tri-coordinator's for Vanderburgh county, working with Chris Myers and John West. In June of 1996 I volunteered as the first Indiana InGenWeb State Coordinator and with great pride saw all counties of Indiana linked to the state board. My husband and I have been married 45 years and live in Mt. Vernon, Indiana and have four grown married children. It was with deep regret that in November of 1997 I found it necessary to resign as State Coordinator of Indiana at a very crucial time in my life. Giving God the Glory I am thankful that this crucial time has now ended. My husband last month received a heart transplant in Indianapolis and is doing fine! I am eager to discuss any issues and the progress of the InGenWeb with any coordinator or researcher. I understand Lori Hoffman is also Indiana's Ass't State Coordinator and doing a very good job! Now hold on just a second here. I *thought* ALL SCs were to be nominated. I wasn't aware that anybody who felt like it could just up and decide to *run* for this position. Is this even allowed? What is the URL to the bylaws? After losing my hard drive, Ineed to recoup my data. Lori RipleyGenWeb owner

I have a message from Tom Agan and Dee Floyd-Pavey that they have asked me to forward to this list,it will be in the next message. I have also asked Betty Sellers to send something out to this list so keep your eye on your mail for these messages. Fred =============================
Just told my wife I was coming to Bed, when this message came online. I would proudly second Betty Sellers for serving as our SC again. She worked hard for us before and is a really nice person (and so is her husband, Bill - who is doing fine after the miracle heart transplant). I have gotten to know them personally and been to Betty's home several times. She has a huge "antiquated" microfilm reader in her computer room to transcribe and upload data for her pages. She and I share responsibilities with Chris Myers to maintain the Vanderburgh Co., INGenWeb site. Betty & I have given internet genealogy workshops together, too. Everyone may recall that Betty had to give up being Indiana's SC because of Bill's failing heart - and I know she would love to help Indiana again. John G. Well.......it's been some time since I have written but I am still here. Dee's "Orphan" site has moved to; http://members.aye.net/~dee1234/indy/ It looks like we have only two Counties needing a host, Jay and Jackson, both have accounts at rootsweb although Jay is currently on another server. Let Dee or I know if you would like to have either of these Counties. You may have noticed I have been hinting for a new Indiana SC, well I now have a volunteer wanting to take the job. He is Tom Agan, the host of Orange County Indiana. I would like to hear your thoughts on this and I am sure Tom would like to know what you think on this as well. You can reach me at this address or Tom at; labooski@gate.net Now some news on a new mail list you may want to sub to; ************************FROM KAY MASON******************************** The Census Project is sponsoring a new discussion list.. Fred, If nominations are open for SC I would like to place in nomination Betty SELLERS, first SC of IN. Betty was SC when we signed on 2 1/2 years ago and I think everyone knows she would once again do a great job. Bill's transplant was a great success and he's doing great now. I just uploaded a ton of new postcard images to the INImages site! If you haven't checked it in a while, your county may now be represented. Also new: geocities now allows subdirectories, so I have divided the images by county. If you find any mistakes, please do not hesitate to let me know about it, since I am not a native of the Hoosier State. :) Feel free to download any images you want and use them on your county pages. Good evening everyone, As you all know, I have taken over the INGenWeb Links Page for Sam Cline and it now has a new address: http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/ingwlinks.htm If you have a link to this page on your site, please make this change. I have been busy checking links and updating old addresses and removing dead links. If you encounter problems with links on the various pages, or would like to have me include a new link or two, please let me know. Thanks! Adina Watkins Dyer Tippecanoe Co. As most of you know, Sam Cline has to give up his InGenWeb sites, he has found volunteers for his "Indiana Links" page as well as new hosts for Knox and Lawrence County and will no doubt have hosts for his other Counties soon. Darlene Anderson also must give up her Clinton and Jackson Counties web sites, if anyone wants them let her or I know, the sites are on rootsweb so there is no need to move them. Both Sam and Darlene have been great volunteers and I know I will miss them but they way they are handling this is a big help. Another thing. Has anyone heard from Christe Bowerman lately? I don't seem to be able to get a reply from her. Fred
Adina Dyer, Tippecanoe County CC, has agreed to take over the INGenWeb Links Pages. Thanks. Sam Cline
I feel compelled to pass on this story to my fellow County Coordinators, as much as a "feel good" situation, in addition to being a nice addition to the Kosciusko Co site. A few weeks ago(August 17) I received the following email: >Hello! >We just acquired a family album of a family named "Mann", two of >whom it appears from cdv's and notations to have served with the 74th Indiana >Vol. Inf. Thanks to all that have replied to my "Rool Call" ,maybe next month we will have a "Cool Call",all depends on where my fingers decide to go on the keyboard ;-) When you add data to your County site don't forget the InGenWeb archives,it is a good place to assure the data remains online and free to all even if you have to leave the project.Check out your County from the main TOC page at; http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/in/infiles.htm If you are working on a census and want to send me what you have done now then send away,it is a good way to back-up what you have done just in case your computer crashes and you loose the data. OK, nuff begging, I still believe we should elect a new Indiana Coordinator by the first of the year so if you would like to host Indiana let me know and maybe we can have an election in a couple of months. Now here is a message from Nancy, our new National Coordinator; (Indiana is in the NE/NC REGION) *************************************************************************** Greetings USGenWeb members! As we all know, the month of July was a rocky one with the very first elections held for USGenWeb and the discussions about the bylaws. Today the elections are history, the bylaws are now in force, and the new board takes the reigns for the next year. The coming year will be an exciting one, and I'm sure a challenge, as we all try to figure out exactly where we are and where we are going as a project. I don't expect the next year to be any easier than the last year has been. We are still in our infancy and will undoubtedly continue to have growing pains for several years to come, but with everyones help and cooperation, we'll make it. I know there are some administrative things that we will be working on during the next couple of weeks and some new ideas and suggestions that will be presented to the board shortly. I would like to take this opportunity to also say 'Thank You!' to Megan and the members of the out-going board. I know that the past year has not been easy for you, but you stuck it out for the benefit of USGW. I might not have agreed with everything you did, but I'm also smart enough to know that not everyone will agree with me and the new board all the time either. I truly hope that we don't have any problems of the magnitude you tackled. I wish all of you nothing but the best and thank you for your service. To the new board members, I look forward to working with you. Onward and upward!
