Jay here. Activity on the site is increasing quite a bit, as are the number of subscribers to the county list. Its probably largely a result of a huge data base just added containing 1000 names of civil war soldiers from Jay and surrounding areas. One problem: I put the data base up and its too big so it seems to be crashing Netscape (or so those that use it tell me!) I need to figure out how to split it up. Then, I need to find the time to do it, as I am home with a child with chicken pox. Still new enough at this that it all takes me quite some time to create. If anyone is checking that database on the site, please be paitient and keep trying it does eventaully load. Very surprised that I have lots of activity, but no requests for 1850 census look ups. Maybe there is a list of all the state congressmen's address' and their email address' too online somewhere??? Same with governor and lt. governor's address? Maybe even letting the US congressmen know of this as maybe they have some "pull" or influence with the state government? What about the township trustees -- is there a list in each county of these? Wouldn't they also have a sayso in their area, or would this only be at the county level too? Of course the county commissioners might want to know of this as they too make county laws and rules. These are just general guesses -- plus I don't know if they would accept recommendations or comments from someone like myself who is concerned about Indiana but doesn't actually live there -- anyone have an idea on this? Do you think I too (live in Ohio and a cc for 3 counties in Indiana) would be allowed to voice my opinion to these elected officials via letter and/or email, or do you think they would take offense at this? I would appreciate any comments on this last to me directly, although even if put on the list I am sure there might be other ccs who has this same delimna (?sp). If anyone has any internet address' which shows the mail or email address' of the officials in Indiana at all different levels of government I am sure we would appreciate these. Just some ideas.
