if you receive any comments in regard to the State Page - loading time- content- etc... would you please forward this information on the Lori or I. I think there has been quite a bit of improvement in the page since the Christmas page was taken down. Lori has joined the index and the map page together - for entry to the county sites. If you haven't visited this site - I'd like a report cc: to me and Lori on the loading time of the map and index. Higginson Book co. is a reputable book publisher. I have ordered, received and been very pleased with the ones I have. They also advertise in Genealogical Helper, and have printed catalogs with thousands of available books. Try them. Often it is the only source of an out of print book. M. And, I might add, you are ready to wait a while. They print "per request". I was told my order would take 10 weeks. The majority of books (8) that I have gotten were very well done. Pages are crisp and easy to read. Nicely bound. I could never have afforded these books on the open, out of print market. Pat Mount
Unfortunately I had a bad experience with them. Last May I ordered a book and finally cancelled the order in October after many long distance phone calls and excuses. I found the book I wanted at Selby publishing in Kokomo, good quality and less expensive than Higginson. I don't know anything about Tim or Beth. Kevin was (and probably still is) involved in the census project. He seems very committed and knowledgable. My only problem with him was that he seemed to have limited patience with people just starting in the project and frustrated at the early lack of help in the project. I seem to recall him firing off a couple of lengthy and less than pleasant e-mails to some people who e-mailed the census list looking for help. A few times I thought he over reacted to someone who was frustrated and just looking for answers. This of course is a personal opinion and all this took place at least 18 months ago. I haven't been active with the census project for at least a year so I can't speak for the more recent. > -----Original Message----- > From: Gene Andert <genea@ctlnet.com> > To: INGEN-L@rootsweb.com <INGEN-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: Monday, January 18, 1999 5:37 AM > Subject: USGenWeb Elections > > >OK, so now we are into the elections for USGenWeb. Judy I like AOLPress to create web pages. It is pretty simple to use and the price is right (free) even if you fo not use America Online as a service provider. Goodmorning Gene I'll try to give a little insight on the candidates but can give very little. Beth is acting NC and has been on the Advisory Board - Tim Sowell was on the previous ballot for NC with Nancy Trice and Linda Lewis.. I've never heard of Kevin Fraley. The County Coordinator's Nominee's... Ed Book has been pretty outspoken and the other two I don't know. My choice would not be Ed. -----Original Message----- From: Gene Andert <genea@ctlnet.com> To: INGEN-L@rootsweb.com <INGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, January 18, 1999 5:37 AM Subject: USGenWeb Elections >OK, so now we are into the elections for USGenWeb.
