I always thought bios were helpful in Genealogy - NOT separate from genealogy! My mistake, must be THAT ego trip again! Thank heavens I haven't run into many like you! If my volunteer work since the onstart of genweb in Indiana was an ego trip, I would have MY genealogy links pasted all over my county's website. Talk about ego trips....! > But if you notice in the URL for the bio board you sent are the letters > GEN...That means genealogy.....***********Oh, sorta have to be a detective - THAT's always good for clarification! >The Biographies are totally coordinated > seperately that the genealogy. 3. I know she's upset and Lori I've been there before also... I don't see the InGenWeb logo on the other pages but it sure is a lot like it... Maybe it is time for us to prepare a logo - or banner like the the American Local History Network - but when I say "like" I mean like 'NO OTHER".... First let's all send Darilee a hug and get this straightened out! 3. First off Darilee I am at the link you sent - First check the logo's at the top of the page - You will see that there is not a UsGenWeb logo nor is there a InGenWeb logo... This is a separate project - started by Jeff Murphy - Read what is written there and how it was started... The GenConnect bio's that are on UsGenWeb are all together different. Take a deep breathe Darilee and please read it carefully. We love you and we know you are upset and mis understand. Betty a/k/a - Kyseeker of Kentucky and Indiana -----Original Message----- From: D. 3. Darilee - I hope you'll put your pages back up. I think it is all just a misunderstanding. I saw what you meant, i.e., "My name is Suzy Sprague and I am the coordinator for Carroll County, Indiana." which is a little overstated, but everyone doesn't fully understand the overall environment they are sitting in. I'm glad Diana Flynn is doing the Monroe biographies, even though there is no return link to the Monroe County GenWeb Pages and whoever goes there has to use the back button to return. I guess that is a good argument for not linking directly to the biography pages, but it seems I'm getting a little irritated over all of this myself. It's hard to play the mild mannered genealogist all of the time. -- Julian Livingston - Monroe & Owen Co.s INDIANA Coord. for INGenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmonroe/monroegw.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~inowen/owenindx.html Monroe Co. 3. But if you notice in the URL for the bio board you sent are the letters GEN...That means genealogy.....The Biographies are totally coordinated seperately that the genealogy. Not all counties have someone coordinating biographies in each one of them. I know when I had Franklin County...I believe it was uncoordinated. I think the confusion is with the new table that was set up by the genealogy state coordinators. On there they not only list links to the GENEALOGY WEBSITE for that particular county....they also have links to other websites related to that county....you know grouping them and being user friendly for the genealogists coming to the page. I clicked on the Carrol County Genealogy link and it apparently went to YOUR page that you have taken down. I went to the Carroll County bios page that is Suzy's. Franklin I don't see a problem here. I checked other county pages and THEY did NOT have this page on their bio sites! So, if it is a totally different faction why isn't it consistant for each county??? Why is there a link to this page anyway - there isn't even a bio on it, it doesn't link to the Carroll County website, BESIDES all that - GenConnect offers a special page like Cass County is using at http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/CassBios for the county coordinators to use and set-up a bio page if they want AT LEAST the CC can coordinate! 2. Based on the following quote taken from the Brown County Bios page, count me in with the group that is upset about the double standard. Bio vs Gen .... Steve Norman "I am the coordinator for Brown County, Indiana. Volunteers are needed to enter, edit, and archive the biographies for each project. If you have biographies you would like to donate for Brown County please contact me, Deb Murray. If you would like to volunteer to coordinate a county please contact the Indiana State Coordinator Deb Murray."

One person even looked it up in the dictionary and could not find these symbols. Usually when making guidelines and procedures - symbols, abbreviations or alternate shorter terms are placed in parenthesis after its first usuage in the document, as in "State Coordinator (SC)." Then the shorter version is used (mostly) for the rest of the time it is referenced in that document. That was originally done, but the order of some of its parts was changed around somewhat and these shorter versions are indicated by parenthesis later in the document. Thanks to those that noticed this and passed this on to us to correct. I simply put this at the top of the document. I take full responsibility for the abuse of the English language. I only took the required courses in English composition while I was in college and only received a "B" average grade in grammar type classes. ;) JGW [aka: John G. West] (aka=also known as) <smiling>

    3. Vanderburgh County is excited about the Browning Obits that are online courtesy of the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library. This is a searchable database (with some unique features) of obituaries of Evansville area newspapers. Currently, the database is complete from 1990 to date and is kept up-to-date by the Browning family and the dedicated staff of the Browning Funeral Home in Evansville. Mr. Browning's research goes back to 1920. The Browning files, from 1920 to 1990, are recorded on over 180,000 index cards, which were microfilmed and donated to several Indiana libraries. Part two of this project is to enter the data from 1920 to 1990 into the database. Obituaries include deaths of southwestern Indiana, southern Illinois and western Kentucky. 3. Hello everyone! I wanted to respond to roll call to all because I want to invite you to see the exciting things happening over at Jay County. I am still here and doing fine..Jay County is booming right now and we are testing a new search engine! We recently put up a "death diary" with 1000 death entries..it was large enough we decided the time had come to test a search engine. Right now, only the death diary is linked up, but we hope to link all the databases to it and make the site fully searchable. What I like about the engine is that you can just type in a single letter and see any entry that begins with that letter, or a partial name or whatever. We will be adding a large data base of WW1 vets soon and it will be linked to the engine as well. The Genealogical Society recently came on line and they have been very helpful. They have sent me so cemetary inscriptions, so yet another database is in the works and will be searchable. Eventually, we hope to dump all our databases into a single searchable data base. Slow but sure! 1. Outlook Express/ Digests help?
    2. Lonnie Fink
    3. Hi everyone, Decided for many reason to switch to Outlook Express as my mail reader! I was wondering if someone can help me with it. I receive many digest for reading email. A couple is this one INGEN and another one is KYROOTs. When I receive KYROOTS it comes a large text file which I can easily view in Outlook Express as one email by scanning down the email. I like this way of doing it. For INGEN-D and many others, I get the digests as a series of email included in one email. The Emails show up at the bottom of the screen icons and I have to click on the first one to see the index close that window( not delete) and then click on the next one to see all the emails. Closing the window, then finally deleteing the main email to remove all of them. Is there a way to change OUTLOOK or my INGEN subscription so that the digests comes as one large email! Any help appreciated. I hope this not an inappropriate message to post to this list, since it is for CCs and I am one and was hoping one of you CC can help with this. A private reply will be probably better. Sorry still haven't figured out how to setup signatures or auto include them in my reply lonnie
