Thanks in advance for any thoughts, Carol > Williams Responding to your Oct 15 posting. Kept a copy of your posting and delayed in responding because of e mail malfunction and wifes major surgery. There are many Browns and they are difficult to trace. But does this Brown history fit into your records. John and Margaret Shaw of Hempfield Twp of Westmoreland, Pa. had a son Andrew and a daughter Margaret Kyle wife of Isaac Kyle who moved from Westmoreland to Wayne Co. Ohio. The Kyles lived there all their lives. Andrew lived in Chippewa Twp of Wayne Co. Ohio in 1820. By 1830 he and his son John lived there. By 1840 Both were gone You mention that your John and Margaret had a son John C.Brown. Do you know what the C stands for. I am the descendant of John Brown the brother of Andrew who also has a son John C. Brown. Andrew and son John probably moved futher westward. Could we make a connection. Do you know the father of Your John who married Margaret. Maybe the C is a family signature. I'm still working on my Browns but know that they bought land in Westmoreland, Hempfiels twp in 1769 and settled there in 1770. John the father of Andrew and my John died in 1795. My John was born in 1780 and dies about 1851. Maybe you can put it together. Good Luck. Joseph Brown
