Many thanks to Harold Clupper for transcribing this diary. I have only taken a quick look at this so far and have found details for many names in my database and many more looked familiar. Kathleen Researching Jenks, Long, Sullenberger, Peter Smith 1815-1888 et al, McNeely

Happy Summer, Randy, just a note to let you know how great I think the web site is. Having a good time checking out the cemetery listings...you have so much research material there. St. Michael's Cemetery in Brookville has Charles Moorman and wife Mary Koehler's infant daughter buried there. Agnes Moorman died 3-00-1877 at the age of 1 year and 7 months. Does anyone out there have any info on the Koehler family and/or this Moorman family??? Janet j.r.shade@worldnet.att.net http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/s/h/a/Janet-R-Shade HAVE A HAPPY DAY : - )
okay....not much happening on the list of late so it is time for a major update.... Let's see...we are closing in on 120 members to our e-mail discussion list for Franklin County....so if you are a new member to the list, we would like to see you post the surnames from Franklin County you are researching and if anyone else wants to throw a reminder out, please do so... Not alot happening with the website. I am now working 2 jobs, 60 hours a week. I just returned full time to the Connersville radio station while I am still working at Wal~Mart, so as you can see my table is full. I will add things as I can and as time permits. I do want to thank those who have donated information to the website. The most recent addition is the Jerome Wiley Diary from Harold Clupper in Pennsylvania. Makes for some interesting reading, especially if you have family from Northwestern Franklin County. Harold put in alot of hours on the diary and we tip our cap to him. If anyone has info they would like to get linked to from our website that pertains to Franklin County just let me know. Also looking for more pictures for the Faces of History page. Charlotte Babicki from Canada sent along a nice note for a lookup offer in a book she has.... ---------- I have a booklet called James Wood Family Record, which includes 1 family who lived by Stipp's Hill, Franklin Co IN. I would be happy to do lookups in the booklet. ---------- Her e-mail address is babick@gov.nt.ca.....Thanks to her for the lookup offer and as always I will give first shot to those on this list before posting it to the website. Finally if anyone has suggestions or comments, please feel free to drop me a note (good or bad) we would like to hear from you. The cemetery listing is going slow during the summer, but hopefult by the end of the year we will have that knocked out....naturalization records are still in the works and I am now 4-weeks behind on posting obituaries.... If anyone is within ear shot....I am on the air of W-I-F-E radio in Connersville from 2-7pm Monday thru Friday and if you are going to be at the Franklin County Fair I will be there from 6-9pm tonight (Thursday Night) so look me up and say hi... Thanks one and all for your support.. Randy Klemme Franklin County Genealogy Coordinator

I am interested in corresponding with anyone doing research on the ADAIRS who were in Franklin County as early as 1800 (?). Specifically I have John and James Adair. I may be confused, but I have information that one or both of these men died abt 1831 in Franklin Co. Thanks. Sue Rodgers
Randy Klemme and all My wife and I will be visiting Oldenburg after 16 Aug. We will wander around town and go to the cemetery. I am hoping to go to the court house as well. I have found many of my Waechter family and have the passenger list of the Barque Pennsylvania that brought them to Baltimore in Sept 1838 from Bremen, Hitzkaufen, Germany. I don't find Hitzkaufen on a map of Germany. The Waecthers are still in the area and have a family reunion every two years or so. I will be searching for the Sellmeyer and Dahmus families. Sellmeyers first arrived in Oldenburg abt 1842. They owned the tannery and St Joseph Wool Factory in Oldenburg. In time they moved to Indianapolis and to Arkansas. We know little about the Dahmus family other than it was large. The Dahmuses made wooden shoes at first. All three families supported the Catholic church with nuns and priests. I would like to find any records of their citizenship or declaration. Any leads that will tell us where they came from. John Henry Sellmeyer Jr. m. Maria Enneking Nov 1866 Mary Catherine Sellmeyer m. John Ortman Apr 1870 Henry Christopher Sellmeyer m. Mary A. Studer Nov 1870 Theresa Sellmeyer m. Bernard Hooverkamp May 1891 Joseph Sellmeyer m. Bernadina Damhus Sep 1888 Fredrick Sellmeyer m. Caroline Cranzlor Oct 1884. There are three other children that we don't have marriage records for. I will appreciate any and all help in making my time more productive and less time lost searching for places.

Also a big thanks to Harold Clupper of Pennsylvania as he has transcribed and donated a diary from the late 1800s that deals with people living in the Laurel and Salt Creek Township areas. Makes for some interesting reading. I will have that posted as soon as I can. Thanks Harold and a reminder, anyone with suggestions, family files, pictures, or anyother intesting items that you would like to donate to the website, just drop me a note...BTW Geocities just gave me 5 more mb to play with on our website!!!! I just received my Luttmer Nacrichten yesterday and our German cousin, Stephan Luttmer, who publishes the newsletter had an article attached. I thought some of the folks from Franklin County, who had relatives that immigrated from Niedersachen might be interested in participating in this project. The address for the archivist is at the bottom of the article. Eppie Litmer "Emigration of the former duchy of Brunswick in the 18th and 19th century a socio-historical reflection - The worldexposition Expo 2000 in Hannover has given rise to a special project at the State Archives of Lower Saxony in Wolfenbuttel. They began a research about 200 years of emigration - mainly to the United States of America - during the 18th and 19th century. They try to get as much information as possible out of the documents in stock. The aim of these activities is the completion of a catalogue concerning the emigrants, e.g. the families, children, single women with children, criminal people, workmen and so on, who left their homes in search of a wealthier life in freedom. Unfortunately this task isn't as easy as it sounds, because the destiny of these people often ends with the beginning of their departure, when they set foot on the ships which brought them to their new lives. The documents show us their difficult and often painful routes to the harbours, but we don't know much about the conditions regarding their lives on board the ships or about the people who never reached their destination. This situation has to be changed. The most important things are signs of life from the emigrants, letters they wrote to inform their families, relatives and friends who stayed at home about their strange new environments and living-conditions. Probably most of these letters are in private hands. This is the point where my work begins. My name is Gabriele Strathmann (Am Meyenberg 10 A, D-38300 Wolfenbiittel). My task is to show and interpret the biographies of the emigrants. I'd like to ask you for your assistance. If you have private letters in regard of the emigration I would be very pleased if you could send me the copies or transcriptions and if you gave me the permittance to use them. I assure you that I will deal with them in confidence. Many thanks in anticipation of your favour. Welcome to the Expo 2000 in Hannover! Gabriele Strathmann, Am Meyenb@rg 10 A, D-38300 WolfenbUttel Please send your material directly to Mrs. Strathmann."
Hello Randy and all, Since I live in Minnesota, I dont get many chances to dig around in person in Franklin County. However, I will be in Brookville in late July, and plan to look up some family members in Maple Grove Cemetery. The problem is, I will have a VERY short time to spend in Brookville. It would be a great help to have things in place before my visit. Winifred Meyer, of the Brookville Town-Township Library, has been very helpful, but I still need help with this question: Who do I see in Brookville to find the locations of graves in Maple Grove Cem.? Does the cemetery have an office with someone on duty during the day? I will be looking for these ELLIS and SELLERS: John C. ELLIS b. 17 Jan 1831 in TN., moved to Brookville in 1849, m. Harriet QUICK on 2 May 1852, d. 17 April 1919 in Brookville. John and Harriet Ellis had 12 children: Sarah Jane (Ellis) Cooksey Mary Catherine (Ellis) Hayden Emma Adeline Ellis James E. Ellis Cyrus Clayton Ellis (wife Mary) Hannah Ann Anna (Ellis) Graham Otis Monroe Ellis Nancy Louvesta (Ellis) (Sellers) Phennis Myrtle E. (Ellis) Abbot John L. Ellis Martha Ellen Ellis[died in infancy] Charles H. Spurgeon Ellis [died in infancy] E. D. SELLERS (or SELLER) m. Lidana TEMPLIN Children of E. D. Seller(s) and Lidana Templin were (I believe): William J. b. I've been looking for records of the Sellmeyer family and when they arrived in Oldenburg. They owned the Tannery and I believe the Linen factory. John Henry Sellmeyer was born in 1818, left Osnabruck Germany, lived in Cincinnati for awhile where he married Maria Elizabeth Brugenschmidt and had a son (John Henry Jr.). The earliest reference in Oldenburg is 1842. I am also looking for the Dahmus family. I had made contact with some folks who married into the Sellmeyer family but the communications were abruptly cut off. I hope that anyone who recognizes the names and has any information will contact me. Lot of luck in your research. Phil Di Matteo
I haven't posted for a while and since Randy thinks we're much to quiet I'll jump in and say my two-bits worth! Jeremiah WILLIAMS died in Franklin Co. in May 1812. He left a widow, Mary Ann, and children: . Samuel b. 1780 in SC; d. 1839 in Warren Co., IN; m. Susanna HACKLEMAN, d/o Jacob HACKLEMAN and Mary OSBORN . Elizabeth m. James WILEY in Dearborn Co., IN about 1811 . George . William E. . Thomas . James . John b. 1796 in SC; d. 1878 in Dallas Co., IA; m. Elizabeth McCORMICK, d/o Catherine DRENNAN and ? (1) Nancy HAWKINS in 1819 in Fayette Co., IN (2) Mary MORGAN in 1844 in Fountain Co., IN Jeremiah and Mary Ann WILLIAMS left South Carolina sometime after the birth of Milburn in 1799, migrating to Indiana, possibly with a stop in Scott Co., KY. After Jeremiah's death in 1812 Mary Ann lived in Franklin Co. for a few more years then moved to Fayette Co. where she married her son's father-in-law, Jacob HACKLEMAN, in 1824. Mary Ann died one year later in 1825. Anyone out there with info on this family? Also seeking info on Catherine WILLIAMS who married William Wilson Dec 23, 1813, Franklin Co., IN. Catherine died Feb 12, 1815 near Metamora giving birth to Eli Adam WILSON. William married Comfort OSBORN on Mar 15, 1819. There are strong ties between the WILLIAMS family and the following families; OSBORN, PHILPOTT, HACKLEMAN, HAWKINS. I believe the these families migrated together and intermarried frequently. Love to hear from anyone researching these names! Mari Nielsen
Sorry Missed an important word in my posting a bit ago. Henry MATHEWS and Phoebe POND migrated to Franklin Co., IN from New York
Janet, I recently received from a relative, "The Wesling Family Tree" prepared in 1972. It revolves around three Wesling children: Henry, Lizetta, and Wilhelmina who migrated from the Kingdom of Hanover, Germany, possible sometime between the years of 1848 and 1860. I don't know of a connection to the Enochsburg area, but they did settle in Franklin County and Dearborn County near New Trenton. Henry married Julia Droege in 1852; settled near New Trenton Lizetta married William Meyer; settled at New Trenton; Wilhelmina married Peter Erke and settled in the Cincinnati area. This is a photocopy rather than electronic, so I would need to send it snail mail if you want it. Any connection? Ruth Cox Schlemmer
