    2. Randy Klemme
    3. Pat O'Conner has e-mailed me another idea for the website and I will throw it out for opinions. Here is what she said... I wonder if you have considered a page for Franklin Co. wills? I have a couple of them that I would be glad to post if so. Well, how many would be interested or possibly be able to add to such a website page. I am more than willing to put it together on OUR website.... Randy Klemme Franklin County Genealogy Coordinator

    1. [INFRANKLI-L] The 'Original' Lorenzo Dow
    2. Sue Cook
    3. Hi Everyone! Last week I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT. Well, I ran home from work and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook

    1. [INFRANKLI-L] Cook ancestors
    2. Donald L. Jones
    3. Nel Hatcher and Jack Litmer posted surnames to the list indicating they were researching the COOKs. I may also be related to the COOK family. This possibility is based on the following reasoning, so bear with me while I lead you down the path. My gg grandmother was Sarah PATTY b. 1816 IN. She married Joseph WOOD in 1835 in Liberty, IN (Union County - part was Franklin County in 1820). I believe her father to be James PATTY f.c. 1830 Union Co. (p 226), f.c. 1820 Franklin Co. (p 214). I further believe James is related to the South Carolina PATTYs; however, I haven't made a connection. I have eliminated all but Charles PATTY b. 1753 as his father. I do think James migrated to Indiana from South Carolina with the COOKs sometime before 1820. In 1820, this James PATTY lived very close (same census page) to several COOKs, Including Isaac (Liberty Twp., also p 214). There were quite a number of COOKs that lived in this immediate area. They were: another Isaac (p 213), James (p 287), Joseph (p 211), Thomas (p 213), Wright (p 205) and Zimre (p 213). I believe that all came in the early 1800's Quaker migration from South Carolina. They are recorded in the monthly meeting notes of that faith (Union Co. SC). In trying to identify the possible spouse of James PATTY, I look to the women of the COOK family as prime candidates; because of proximity, same faith and common birthplace (SC). Eliminating those that are married or with a large age difference leaves Phoebe COOK as a likely candidate. Phoebe b. 1789 SC was the daughter of Eli COOK and the sister of Isaac COOK (same f.c 1820 page as James Patty). To date I have not been able to find Phoebe's spouse or link her to James PATTY. I have explored the Quaker archives at Earlham University as well as many documents at both Brookville and Liberty. I have also searched sources available at the Indiana State Library, South Carolina Archives, and the various pertinent counties in South Carolina, Indiana and Ohio. Does anyone have any information regarding these persons and their relationships that I have supposed? Any suggestions? Thank You Don

    2. Randy Klemme
    3. A couple of quick updates.....I am almost caught up on the new surname/researcher list. I believe I still have 2 or 3 to post and I will be caught up so if you DO NOT see your name or a surname is missing please let me know. From the response to that page already, it was a great idea by Janet in Florida... Second of all, in our continuing efforts to bring you want you want....I was asked to re-do the Faces of History page to create thumbnail pictures of those on that page to make it easier to load. I am just about completed with that and it should load much easier. I am always open to suggestions on making the website better... Randy Klemme Franklin County Genealogy Coordinator
