Randy, thanks for stirring up the list! Hi! I am new to the list. The family names I am researching in Franklin Dearborn, and Ripley counties are: Humig Borger/Burger Lingg Geis Volk These families were all Catholic. If you have any of these names in your family, let me know. I have been going "sideways" in my research, and have a lot of information on the Stenger, Roell, Ripperger/Ripberger families as well. Also some other names. Sorry, I don't recognize any that have come in over the last few days. All those must be from non Catholic families. Kathy Favorite

In researching my Davis, Wakefield, Higgs et al lines I have two separate reports from two separate family lines that they came from Rush IN. This caused a great deal of false leads until I found them all strongly entrenched in Brookville Twsp, Franklin Co from 1810 (possibly earlier) until late 1860s. How can two separate family histories have them from Rush IN when I can find no evidence there was ever any time that part of Rush or Franklin Co were ever part of each other? Was there a small town in Brookville Twsp, IN called Rush? Any enlightenment on this will be most appreciated. Frank Dickson
Welcome to all the new members. I am still at a dead end. Haven't made any direct connection to the Wright / Briggs line, although I did find out more information from this site on the Curry line that Ida Jane Wright joined by marriage. Hopefully some of the elusive Wright's will show. I'll keep trying. Still looking for information regarding James Wright (DOB 04/05/1827, New York). He married Lucinda Hall Briggs (DOB 02/14/1828, Kentucky - daughter of Andrew W. Briggs and Martha Farrow). James died on 09/16/1902 in Brookville, Franklin Co, IN. and is buried at Duck Creek Chapel (later renamed Stone Chapel), near Metamora, Franklin Co., IN. Lucinda died 10/31/1903 in Blooming Grove, Franklin Co., IN and is also buried at Stone Chapel. They had 7 children - Maria, Ida Jane (Curry), William Thoenton (DOB 1/1852 Indiana), Jotham (DOB 10/02/1857 Franklin Co, Indiana), and Jesse (DOB 8/1867, Fayette Co, Indiana) and two that died in infancy. Does anyone have information about James or his family?

These are the surnames firmly rooted in the earliest years in Franklin Co. The Pennsylvanian, Ben ABRAHAM, purchased land in Franklin Co. in 1811 while still living in Bracken Co., KY. HIs two daughters, Nancy and Susannah, married (separate times, of course) John HARDING, Jr., born 1790 in Augusta Co., VA and they lived in Butler Co., OH. The HARDINGs lived in Decatur Co. at the county line with Franklin Co. The ABRAHAMs and HARDINGs married MARLINs, GEORGEs, and many others in Franklin Co. I have much of this information, but not yet all in my FTM. Some of the ABRAHAMs lived in Metamore. Some in Salt Creek Twp., Decatur Co. Many moved on to the western lands. If you have any of these surnames, please contact me. Shirley Maynard

I know there was a John MILLAR on the 1820 FranklinCo census, pg 196, with a son of the right age to be William. On the same page is Abraham and Jacob MILLAR. There is a John MILLER on page 197 who also has a son of the right age as William. I know William was in FountainCo, IN by the 1840 census. What I am hoping is that someone on this list has the 1830 census for FranklinCo and can do a lookup on John Miller, John Millar, and William Miller. I believe one of these John Millers is William's father but having a devil of a time proving it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Nel
