    1. Re: Meek family line
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Meek, Reed, Peyton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/777.2 Message Board Post: My 3rd g'uncle was James B Reed. b 1802 in Clark County, son of William and Sarah (Coombs) Reed. He was shown as a ship's carpenter. James, married Mary Peyton b. 1804, PA. m.29 Sep 1825 in Clark County, IN. Her father was John Peyton from PA. They lived in New Albany and had 4 daughters. Rachel D, Olivia A, Anna M, and Hannah D Reed. I found Anna M Reed, b. Abt. 1839 married to Gideon Meeks, m. 07 Jun 1860, in the 1860 census, both living with her parents. All of the next censuses showed her as still listed as Anna Meeks, but Gideon disappeared after the 1860 census. There was a Gideon Meeks that is listed as having died in the the Civil War and buried in Chatanooga, TN. He died Nov 30, 1863 I have some suspicion he may be the same, but have no proof of family or home residence. Anna (Reed) Meeks was living with David and Margaret (Coombs) Reed in the 1900 census in Tippecanoe County. She died and was buried in Tippecanoe County, d 22 Apr 1901, abt 60 years old. Any information on Gideon Meek, his wife, Anna M Reed or any of the James B Reed's family, I would very much appreciate it. Neil Reed
