Surnames: WELLS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1782.3 Message Board Post: Since posting the earlier query, I've learned that my grandfather's parents weren't Acel Leonard WELLS and Adelia (Snooks) WELLS, but were ASAHEL NELSON WELLS (a Civil War veterain of the 13th Michigan Infantry and CHARLOTTE ADELIA (WELLS) WELLS, a cousin of Asahel N. Wells. It appears they may have been married in Michigan, and arrived in New Albany (Georgetown), Floyd County, Indiana. Asahel N. Wells was mustered out of the 13th Michigan in Louisville, KY (just across the Ohio river from Floyd Co., IN). Since Asahel and Adelia and their children were in Floyd Co., IN in the census of 1870. They were divorced March 1, 1876 in Floyd Co. (I'd like to have a copy of the divorce record.) Asahel N. Wells died 14 Jul 1911 in Boyle Co., Kentucky, and is buried in a Union plot in the Danville cemetery. He was an insurance salesman in Floyd Co., IN and Boyle Co., KY.
