New Albany Daily Ledger 8 May 1850 p2 c1 The report of the city Sexton for the six months ending May 1st, 1850, shows 61 burials - 36 adults and 25 children. This report certainly exhibits a very gratifying state of the health of our city. We will venture to assert that no place of its size can exhibit so little mortality in the same period of time. Indeed, New Albany has the reputation of being one of the healthiest places in the entire West - a fact which should have great weight with those who are seeking new locations.
