This was printed about the NUGENT families in the DEMOCRAT Silver Creek Centenial Association held near Charleston Indiana 1947 Article reported May 21, 1886. page 5 The NUGENT's whose name is found on the Silver Creek Church roll, and some of the tombstones here are originally from Maryland. They came from KY to IN and settled at Springville. The elder of these three brothers was a wheel-right by trade, but he soon died. His brother John R. then took possession of this shop and continued the business for a number of years. John R., giving up the occupation as wheelright, turned his attention to farming and finally bought a farm where Mr. George NUGENT, his son now lives. Here he reared quite a large family: Conner, Thomas, Clayborn, Jefferson, George and Richard. Bennett NUGENT, one of the 3 brothers, settled on a farm where now is the village of Bennetsville. He laid out this town and it was named for him. He followed farming, trading, and merchandising. He was father of Andrew and Ross NUGENT. Lydia NUGENT his wife appears on the Church Roll of Silver Creek Church as early as 1816. John R. NUGENT and his wife are buried near Silver Creek Church area. Bennett and wife are buried near Bennetsville.
