George W. Akers parents were Thomas Akers and Margaret Allen of Putnam county, Indiana, and Thomas Akers parents were Thomas Akers and Millicent Nicholson. I believe that Millicent's father's name may have been Benjamin, but I won't swear to this. Thomas Akers father's name may have been Simon. The Akers family is reported to have been in the Jersey colony as early as 1695.
