Tomlinson. He was born in Portsmouth, OH in 1822. On the 1880 census he lists both of his parents as being born in PA. By 1841 Samuel lived in Floyd Co., IN. "Marriage Affidavits and Certificates, Harrison Co., IN, 1809 -1865 and addenda, by Walter S. Beanblossom, published by the author, 1973, ---, IN . p. 60," 10/23/1841... Allen Z. Bliss ..... a. by Samuel Tominson ................. Susan Jennings .. a. by " " a. " stands for " age proven " I don't know if there was a relationship or only friendship between Samuel Tomlinson and Allen Z. Bliss and Susan Jennings in 1841. In August 1846 Samuel B. married Emilene/Emily Clark who was the daughter of Jeremiah Clark and Ary Jennings in Floyd Co., IN. After Emily's death, he married her sister Cassandra Clark in 1849 in Harrison Co., IN. A Joseph Potter gave an affidavit for this second marriage. They lived in Floyd Co., IN in 1850; Obion Co., TN in 1860, and migrated to IL where they appear on the military census by 1861 in Brown Co., IL. He then moved to Schuyler Co. (adjoins Brown) IL where he died in 1896. On 1840 census in Posey, Harrison Co., IN is this family: Joseph Tomlinson 1 Male 15-20 (Samuel?) 1 male 20-30 (Joseph....are they brothers?) 1 Female under 5 1 Female 15-20 (wife & child of Joseph?) I'm also seeking further information about the family of Jeremiah Clark and of his wife Ary Jennings. I believe that Ary had a sister named Mary Ann "Polly" who also lived in Floyd Co., IN. Mary Ann returned to Floyd Co. with her son Robert after 1860 when the Tomlinsons and some of the Clarks migrated to IL. Does anyone have any information about any of these Tomlinsons? Clarks? Jennings? Does anyone know anything about the Bliss and Potter families of Floyd Co., IN? This has been a big brick wall for many of us for a long time. Any help would be appreciated. LouAnn in NC
