The Advent Christian Church was built in 1891 and was the first church built in Silver Grove. The church is sort of a mission church that came from the "Second Advent Church" that was at the corner of Watt and E. Maple in Jeffersonville. Actually I think it faced Watt at about 328 Watt. It was led for over 40 years by Dr. Nathaniel Field. He had connections to the Underground Railroad. The New Albany church will be holding their 115 year anniversary in November with an open house. They will be holding special services from November 10 through the 12th. On Saturday, the 11th starting at 1:00 P.M. they will be having a special open house and reunion celebration with a sing a-long at 4:00P.M. At this open house they will be displaying many historic items that had to do with both The Town of Silver Grove and the Advent Christian Church. --submitted by Jim Mumford
