    3. submitted by Jim Mumford The Town of Silver Grove was located east of Silver Street, south of Charlestown Road and basically north of Spring Street in New Albany, Indiana. In the 1880's, a group of residents settled in the area formed and applied for incorporation of the Town of Silver Grove in 1886. The Town of Silver Grove survived until late 1914 when it was finally annexed by the City of New Albany. In those years the area grew from about 100 residents to about 1,000 when it was annexed. By 2000, the memory of the small town had almost completely vanished. In December of 2001 a small group of residents formed a neighborhood association rightfully later named "The Silver Grove Neighborhood Association". We are incorporated and have a 501 c-3 tax exempt status, has existed for about five years and is named for the Historic area. The Association meets each month in the basement of the Advent Christian Church within a few feet of the site of the original Town Hall and volunteer Fire Department.
