New Albany Ledger Standard 18 Dec 1877 p4 c5: Died, at Lomax, Ala., Sunday, Dec. 16, 1877, Joseph Nichels. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 1;2 o'clock, from the residence of Mr. Thos. Crawford, on Chartres street. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend without further notice. The remains will arrive tomorrow morning at 8 1/2 o'clock.

Mr. B. has no superior as a cuisine, having been stewart on the best steamers on the river for many yeras. Mr. B. promises to make his charges very reasonable. day boarders will find this an excellent place to get their meals.

New Albany Ledger Standard 24 Oct 1877 p4 c2: Henry Sterrett, one of the best caterers in the country, has taken charge of and will run in future the restaurant at the Pearl Saloon. It is needless to say that Henry will make it just what this city needs, a first class establishment, for all who know him in connection with the hotels, know that he knows what the traveling public want, and knowing it will be fure to furnish it.

NALS 3 Oct 1877 p4 c2: The remains of the wife of the Rev. John Tansey, formerly of this city, who died at Terre Haute, arrived here this morning on the 11:40 train, and were taken to Greenville for interment.
NALS 29 Sep 1877 p4 c2: Miss Laura Compton, of Greenville, died Friday evening at 7 p.m., of consumption.
NALS 19 Sep 1877 p4 c2: The furniture of the orphan's home is today being removed from the old home, the Park house, to the new DePauw home, corner Upper Third and Spring streets.
NALS 13 Sep 1877 p4 c2: Death, Desecration, Damnation. The foundling child that was laid on Mrs. Lucy Porter's door step about a year ago, six month after claimed by Belle Harts, or Peters, and then legally adopted by Mrs. P., died several days ago. It would naturally be supposed that the grave of the little innocent child would be undisturbed, but wicked wretches shudder not to desecrete its sepulchere. Kind hearts scattered flowers over the last resting place and viscious vandals ruthlessly and repeatedly cast them away. Hornet's nests, lime kilns, and hell itself, is not hot enough for the pertetrators of this crime.
NALS 12 Sep 1877 p4 c4: Died. Sweeney—In this city, at the residence of her son, M. J. Sweeney, Sept. 12th, 1877, at 4 o'clock a.m., Margaret Sweeney, aged 74. The funeral willl take plaace from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Sept 13rh, at 9 o'clock p.m. (I think they meant 9 a.m.)
NALS 11 Sep 1877 p4 c1: Michael Andres, of Lafayette township, is expected to die at any moment. He has typhoid fever. His wife was buried last Thursday and his child on Sunday.
