He was the son of George and Eve Backus. He had a brother, George P. In later years the boys lived in St. Lawrence County. Any connection do you think? The name was spelled "Burkheart" but it is the same. David Burkhart was born 1820 in Indiana and m. 1842 to Susannah Stewart in Washington County. They lived in Greenville Twp., in Floyd Co., Indiana and are buried in Pleasant Ridge Cem. Susannah was the sister to Irena Ellen Stewart my ancestor. I think that probably Jacob is the father and the other's are his children.
