Surnames: OTT, HOPPER, ROTH, SUMMERS, UTZ, BAKER, WHITLOCK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/461.499.1 Message Board Post: Francie, your OTT family (Frank Ott, etc.) was one of three OTT families that were in the Floyd and Harrison Co. areas in the 1800s. I originally thought that this was my OTT line, but soon learned that it was not. I did learn that Frank OTT, Sr., had emigrated from the Hesse-Darmstadt area of Germany. The William J. OTT that married Fanny Eve was indeed in this family. There was, however, another William J. OTT, who was my grandfather and the son of Ferdinand and Anna Maria (ROTH) OTT. Ferdinand OTT arrived in Harrison Co. from Baden several years after Frank OTT had settled in Floyd Co., and married Anna in 1860. My William was born in Harrison Co. near Bradford in 1874 and died in New Albany in 1963. He married Susie HOPPER in 1901. A third group of OTTs lived primarily in Harrison Co., and were descendants of Henry OTT, who was born in VA and lived in KY before coming to Indiana.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/461.499 Message Board Post: I recently put a family history that my mother did in 1993 into Family Tree Maker. I have a William J. Ott son of Frank Ott & Mary Rochner. William J. was born 8/22/1878 and died 10/23/1965. Frank Ott (b. 1851, d. 1932) had a brother Phillip Ott (b. 11/18/1847, d. 12/3/1915). Phillip married Elizabeth Rochner (sister of Mary Rochner). My records show that William J. Ott (b 1878, d. 1965) was married to Fannie Eve. I show that William and Fannie had 7 children. Is it possible that William J. Ott was married twice?
