Is there anyone that can lookup either in census, court or any local records to find any mention of this man, his family, his siblings? I understand he had a sizable amount of land. Maybe there are court records that verify this fact. Any help would be appreciated and I will pay any reproduction costs.
Does anyone have info on exactly where Joseph Ecabert lived in the l860's. He was a farmer. Wife was Rose Jordan. Thanks Mary Lou
Black Hawk was a Indian chief that fought to keep the land in IL. With all the new settlers coming into the state he was not happy about it. So the IL people asked for help and several surrounding states came to their aid. The 4th July 1832 there were several that volunteered in Clark County, IN there were over 100 of them that served under Capt. Lemuel Ford and most of them were Mounted Rangers. In the state of IL there is a complete list of all that fought that were from IL but nothing on IN volunteeres. I contacted the Indiana State Archives and they told me that I should contact Clark & surrounding counties. Someone in one of the library's may have a record of those that were in the Black Hawk War 1832-1833. All that they have is the names in a card file. Hoping that there is more than just that, on those that served. Would appreciate any help with this. Dan, There is information on the Black Hawk War on the internet. You might try using one of the popular search engines like Webcrawler, Yahoo, or google to do a search. Also look for "Benjamin Harrison". My research indicates that Daniel BECK married Elizabeth SUMMERS on Dec. 9, 1799 in Augusta Co., VA. Elizabeth's parents were John (Johannes) and Elizabeth (REIDENAUER) SOMMERS. Elizabeth's brother Jacob SUMMERS was my g-g-g-gfather, who came to Floyd Co. from VA in 1818 and settled in the Georgetown/Greenville area. I have not done any real research on Daniel and Elizabeth, so I do not know if they also migrated to Indiana. Nor do I know when or where they died or who their children were. But if you need more information on the SOMMERS/SUMMERS family, let me know. Jack Ott ([email protected]) researching OTT, ROTH, HOPPER, SUMMERS, UTZ, BAKER, and WHITLOCK in Floyd/Harrison Counties
I'm just curious; what's the Black Hawk War? My gg grandfather was orphaned in the 1830's (G.W. Beck), at least according to his brother's bio published in Baird's History of Clark County and I'm trying to figure out what could have happened to his father (Daniel) and mother. GW lived and died in NA. Thanks dan becque
Is there any records of the volunteers that were from Clark Co. IN? My gg grandfather Riley KELLER was one of the Mounted Rangers. Riley was born 29 December 1811 TN. Looking for a list of all that volunteered as that may have other members of his family. I do have his military records and there were over 100 that volunteered in Clark Co. IN. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Kate Keller Bourland

There is a picture of St. Mary's at the below link. Can anyone tell me when this particular church was built? Also, does anyone know of any earlier pictures of St. Mary's? I would like to have a picture (or drawing) of the church as it was in 1834 & 1835. Also, does anyone know how long a trip it would have been from Floyds Knobs to Louisville, KY in the 1830s? Thank you very much for any help. Sandi Click here: St. Mary's of Knobs Church Cemetery Page
