It has microfilmed copies of the local newspapers going back well into the 1800s. If you haven't been to the Library, it is well worth the trip. If a visit isn't practical, perhaps a family member still living in southern Indiana could research it or, if that isn't an option, there are researchers in the area that you could contact. If you haven't done so already, you might check the Floyd Co. USGenWeb page. Good luck.

    3. I sent to the Floyd County Health Department for copies of marriage records. Somehow, I thought it was $1 each. They returned my check and said I should have included a $5 per name genealogical search fee. I had the exact dates. Should I have sent to the Floyd County Clerk's Office?
