Herman's wife was called Della, we don't know if these two are related or married or what ever. Herman and Della ran a mercantile store in Floyd County, maybe in New Albany. Their daughter said she remembered going to "The Knobs" when she was young, about 1930. The daughter's name was Lucille and at this time, we don't know if they had any more children. We are guessing that the dates on these two are the right people. Appreciate any help we can get.

She married John Wesley Ostrander in Chicago in 1866. My grandfather, Henry Matthew Metz was born in Louisville, KY in 1850, later settled in Illinois. Could Henry and Margaret be brother and sister? Also; are there other siblings? Henry Matthew Metz married Sarah Ellen Bartley in Newton, Il in 1871 (Jasper County) We're pretty sure Henry had at least one brother, who possibly settled in South Dakota. My dad, Charles Henry Metz often told the story of an uncle who went west and ended up in SD.

Nearby in the same census is Edward Brown Jr., the census says he was born in MD, age 43, wife Rachael, childern Jane, Lewis, Hezekiah, Maria, William. The 1860 census has another child, Eva, age 6. Lewis,(Louis) is found in the 1880 census, New Albany, wife Margaret, children Lillie, Luella, Birdie and Louis. The 1880 census, New Albany, lists Edward Brown, age 74, and states Baltimore, MD, (for some reason not just state), wife Rachael and dau. Eva. Looking for anybody related to this family. The Southern Indiana Genealogical Society will meet Jan. 3rd 2002 at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library, 180 West Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. The program will be "Computerized Genealogy," presented by Donna Foster. This entails using computer software programs to print your genealogical data. Samples of computerized family group sheets, ancestral descendancy, and kinship reports will be displayed. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
