Surnames: Smallwood Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1480.1 Message Board Post: Finally! I have found someone who knows something about the Smallwood family! Russell Smallwood and Jane Clark's daughter Desdemona married John H. Bartlett. Their daughter Julia Ann Bartlett married James Richard Myers. Their son Joseph Myers married Florence Ann Gilliam. Their son Donald Paul Myers married Ethel Mae Hays. Their son Eldon Paul Myers is my husband. I am trying desperately to track down information on Desdemona. The Bartlett family book says she was born in 1833 in Indiana. She died November 22, 1910 in Russellville AR and is buried there. They had 7 children, all born in Flord County or Lawrence County, Indiana. She is listed as being possibly adopted. The family rumor is that she was Native American. Do you have any information on Desdemona?

    1. [INFLOYD] AUGUSTUS JOCELYN OBIT (after 1870 prior 1880)
    2. Antoinette Waughtel Sorensen
    3. I have found Augustus Jocelyn on the 1870 New Albany Floyd County census with wife Jane, sons Augustus & James W., and daughters Helen & Hannah R. On the 1880 census Jane is h/h and with son Jas. Wm., daughter Ellen Caroline (I believe this is one & same as Helen) , son-in-law Jos. Wright & daughter-in-law Hannah Rebeka Wright. I believe this is in error and that Hannah Rebeka is a daughter married to Jos. Wright. Can anyone in the New Albany area check for an obit for Augustus Jocelyn, advising cost of copies etc. I also feel that one of these Augustus Jocelyn's may have been a Methodist Minister, more than likely the elder Jocelyn. I am trying to place the wife Jane who was a Sinex by birth into/or with one of the Sinex families down there. Thank you. Antoinette (Tacoma, Washington) [email protected]

    2. Linda Lacich
    3. I am new to this list and am hoping someone can help me. My Great Uncle lived in Albany, Indiana. His wife Nina Bates died in 1915 and the only family they had was a daughter Mrs. Noah Hamerly. No one in my family seems to remember anything about them. Today, on the Social Security Death List I found a William Hamerly who was born in 1915 and died in 1999. He lived in New Albany, Floyd Co, Indiana. Does anyone know this family. My Great Uncle was Francis Bates and married Nina Kahler. The only thing I know about this part of my line is that Francis was the brother of my Grandfather and Nina was the Sister of my Grandmother and they came from Fremont, Sandusky Co, Ohio.

    1. [INFLOYD] William Whitlock, Sr. in Greenville ca. 1830-1850
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: OTT HOPPER SUMMER UTZ BAKER WHITLOCK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1524 Message Board Post: I would be interested in sharing information regarding William WHITLOCK, Sr., who lived in Greenville Township from about 1830-1850. The 1850 census indicates that he was born in VA about 1796. He had a son, William Jr., who lived in Lafayette Township in Floyd Co. I suspect that William, Sr., was probably also the father of Eliza Ann WHITLOCK, the first wife of Hiram HOPPER, a longtime Greenville resident. Supposedly Eliza Ann was born in Kenton Co., KY in 1818. At that time, however, Kenton Co. did not exist, but was part of Boone Co., KY. The 1820 census shows a William WHITLOCK in Boone Co., but by 1830 he was gone. I believe that this is the same William WHITLOCK who settled in Floyd Co.
