Surnames: Miller Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3h.2ADE/1535 Message Board Post: I am seeking Jacob J. MILLER who married Edith Bell in Floyd Co, IN sometime in the mid-1850s? Their son, Cyrus Bradford MILLER is my great great grandfather. The Jacob J. MILLER I am seeking died in Oklahoma in 1899 (I think). I don't know any information for Edith Bell. I think Jacob's father was named Henry and that he came from Miller's Mill (Fincastle), VA around 1820 to Floyd County. A cousin found a Jacob I. Miller married to an Edith living with Sarah BRADFORD (a widow) and her daughter Emma in the 1870 Indiana census. Their children's names match Cyrus Bradford's siblings so I am not certain whether Jacob's middle initial is I or J-it could just be bad handwriting on the census information. I am seeking my family's "original" MILLER. By this I mean the one who came over from Germany. I know his name is Joseph MILLER. We have a trunk that is called "Old germany" with his name on it. It is called that as Joseph made it himself in Germany and brought it with him and it has been passed down ever since. Any help would be appreciated-

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1480.1.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Kay, Actually, Desdemona died in November 1910. Her husband, John Bartlett died February 6, 1899. The information I have shows Rusell Smallwood born in 1810. But as close as all the information seems to be, it must be the same one. I don't understand Desdemona not showing up, but, in the Bartlett book she is listed as possibly being adopted. If she was Native American, maybe the paperwork was never filed, and she wasn't a legal descendant. I had hoped to find a marriage license, but am having no luck. I have information on her burial place, but can't find confirmation. The Bartlett book has a lot of information on their children. By the way, we're in the same time zone. I'm near Oklahoma City! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1480.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello! The information I have comes from the book on the Bartlett family, so I don't have any information on Desdemona's brothers/sisters. I have that her parents were Russell Smallwood, born 1810 Kentucky, who married Jane Clark, born 1814 Indiana. They were married in Floyd County, Indiana in 1832. Desdemona married John H. Bartlett (born 15 April 1831 in Fleming County, Kentucky, died 22 November 1910 in Russellville, Arkansas buried in Pisgah Cemetery) They were married August 8, 1853, but it doesn't say where. They had 7 children, all born in Floyd Co. or Lawrence Co., Indiana The closest I have come to Desdemona's family is your post. The Bartlett book says she is possibly adopted. I haven't been able to confirm her relocation to Russellville, or burial in Pisgah Cemetery. Or anything! It's almost as if she didn't exist, but I have a living breathing husband to show that she did!

I had never heard of Desmonda until your letter. I had John Benton as the child of Russell Clifton Smallwood and Sarah Jane Clark. I have no dates on John B. but was "told" he had 3 boys, Obe, Roy, and Gordon. Obe m. Hulda King in Marshall Co Alabama. I would be glad to share what I have on the parents, esp. Russell C. I do have a cen from 1850 Jackson Co Mo showing just Russell and Sally (suppose that is what Sarah Jane was called). The 1870 Crawford Co Ind cen was too light to copy so I don't know who was with Russell since there is no soundex card to look at. If you have the names of all Russell's kids, I would really enjoy having them. Do you have anything on S. Clark? Russell's bro, Samuel (b abt 1775 mar to Sarah Akers) is my tie. Kay
