Wells. It appears they may have been married in Michigan, and arrived in New Albany (Georgetown), Floyd County, Indiana. Asahel N. Wells was mustered out of the 13th Michigan in Louisville, KY (just across the Ohio river from Floyd Co., IN). Since Asahel and Adelia and their children were in Floyd Co., IN in the census of 1870. They were divorced March 1, 1876 in Floyd Co. (I'd like to have a copy of the divorce record.) Asahel N. Wells died 14 Jul 1911 in Boyle Co., Kentucky, and is buried in a Union plot in the Danville cemetery. He was an insurance salesman in Floyd Co., IN and Boyle Co., KY. I am researching Edmund (Edward sometimes) Dwyer who married a Sarah Carey in Floyd, County Indiana. I noticed from the church records that the last name Dwyer was not spelled the same way throughout. On baptisms of Edward's children and census it has been spelled Dweyer, Doyer, Duier, Dwier and Dreyer. The census mentions that neither Edward or his wife could read or write, which explains the differences. I notice that there are primarily two groups of Dwyers in New Albany during the 1850's onward. They appear to have stood as sponsors for the various children baptised. I can follow Edmund and his children through Indiana. I'm trying to see if my Edward is related to the other Thomas, Edward and Denis that were in the city at the same time. Any ties you might see would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stacy

He left there and went west with a Mormon wagon train and settled in Carson City, Nevada. His Father was John Savage who was born in Ireland as was James. James wife was Elizabeth McManeaus. John's wife was Ellen Sullivan. Oral family history says she was a relative of John L. Sullivan the boxer. I haven't been able to verify that. According to family history James had a sister named Hanna. She married a Francis Purcell. 1860 census shows a John and Ellen with a son John (15) and daughter Catherine (13) and Calvin (10) all born in Ireland. Hanna was married in 1859 so would not have lived at home. I think John my G Grandfather had already left home. In the 1870 census shows a Cain. Is this Calvin?? I have some more information that I'm still trying to tie together. Is any of this helpful to you? Dick Savage

It should be ca 1803. The obit reads as follows - "New Albany Daily Ledger - One of the pioneer women of Floyd County, Mrs. Sarah Ann Taylor, died Saturday evening at her residence in the southern suburb of the city, aged 78 years. She was a good woman, a sincere Christian. She was the mother of Mr. Perry Taylor, the well known fisherman. Her funeral took place yesterday evening." Isaac Taylor's will was probated in Floyd Co., IN on 15 Oct 1857 but I never found the actual will, just that it was probated. I believe both are buried at Fairview Cemetery. I know that Isaac is buried in Plat 3, Row 4, Lot 9. The date of his burial was 18 Mar 1854.

They are living in the same dwelling with the family of Isaac and Sarah Taylor. At first I thought Isaac and David might be brothers. However the Census from 1850 to 1880 indicates that David may be the oldest son of this family. Isaac is gone from the 1860 census and David has moved to Washington county Indiana. In the 1880 census Sarah indicates she is 76 years old. Which means she aged 28 years from 1860 making her old enough to be David's mother. Anyone with information on this family please contact me.
