I'm seeking info on parents, siblings, etc. Don't see possibilities in 1820 or 1830 census'. His parents born in N.Y. per 1880 census. In 1850 G.H. was a "boatman", home in Cincinnati. In 1860 he was a steamboat captain in Vidalia, LA (until 1865!) Maybe his father was a "boatman". Any ideas as to where to look for more info? 1865-1885 he was in Cincinnati again, and working for the RR.
Hello People, I'm looking for birth information for James W. KYEES, b. 21 Nov 1875 in New Albany, IN. I know that there were no records of births kept at that time so I was wondering about parish records. I was wondering if there were any Baptist Churches in New Albany at that time, possibly in or around the area of Franklin Township. Thank you Kathy Irwin Odessa, Texas USA condor@texasonline.net kathy1619@yahoo.com

INQUEST Coroner's Inquest New Albany Daily Ledger Monday 8 May 1865 p2 c4 The undersigned Coroner of Floyd county, held an inquest on the 7th inst., upon the body of an unknown man found floating in the Ohio river in New Albany township, Floyd county, Indiana. The jury by me summoned returned the following verdict: "Deceased came to his death by drowning, or some cause unknown to this jury." The body was dressed in a full suit of cavalry clothes, with the stripes of an orderly Sergeant on the sleeves of the jacket. He was 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair and long dark beard, mixed with gray, and supposed to be about 45 or 50 years old. By papers found upon his body it was supposed he belonged to a Michigan cavalry regiment, and that his name was Samuel BODDEY. He was interred in the city cemetery of New Albany. John Sinex, C. F. C. n [note: There is no Boddy listed in the burials of Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, Floyd County, Indina. Possible this is the same as the one listed as "Unknown Man" who was buried June the 3rd of that year. spc]

Sue, very interesting. John Sinex was my 3rd great granduncle and also a 6th cousin 5 times removed. I enjoy adding these little items to my family history. Thank you. Thanks for your reply, Tom. My gggrandfather, Daniel B. Stoy, is descended from the Peter Stoy that came to PA in the 1730's, also. Daniel B.'s parents were Peter Stoy & Mary Wicks. Peter's parents were Peter Stoy & Ann Brewster. Peter's parents were Peter Stoy & Ann Stone. I believe this Peter to be the son of Peter Stoy that came to PA in the 1730's. The information I have states that it was in 1732 on the ship Samuel of London. I don't have any info on Wilhelm Stoy. Could he be a brother of the Peter that first came to PA, as well as Daniel Stoy of Somerset? Or a nephew? Is there any documentation on other family of Wilhelm or Daniel of Somerset besides their children? Thanks. Cheryl Kerschner __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Daniel is not descended from Wilhelm Stoy. I'm pretty sure Daniel is a son of Peter Stoy/Stay who immigrated into Pa. in the 1730s. Most of the rest of his family stayed in the Philadelphia area until around 1800, though various men seemed to have patented land near Daniel as non-residents. The Peter Stoy lines running around Ohio and points west are most likely tied to Daniel or his brothers. The children of Rev. Wilhelm Stoy are well-documented and Daniel isn't one of them. / Tom Gull
