Surnames: THOMAS, MARTIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3h.2ADE/1840.1 Message Board Post: Martin A. Thomas owned a general store in Galena, Indiana. Could this be a son or grandson? Galena is the town next to Georgetown, Indiana. I see where Thomas and Mary Thomas had a son, John H. Thomas, who was born in 1826 and died in March 1910. The Thomas Thomas buried there wwas born in 1835 and died in 1918, the Mary E. Thomas, the wife of this Thomas Thomas, was born in 1837 and died in 1921. There is a book available from the Southern Indiana Genealogical called Galena Gleanings. It has a lot of information about the Galena Community. The book is a great resource for people researching people who lived in and around Galena. It has some the Galena Cemetery listings, census records, death records, some Newspaper abstracts for people who at one time or another had Galena Connections. It also has an obituary for everyone buried in Galena Cemetery, if an obit could be located. The society also has a book on the Wolfe Cemetery, Floyd Co., Indiana. You can contact me for information on how to order either or these books. spcarpenter@ka.net
