Spillman Mrs. Sarah LaVine Spillman, 53, wife of Seth S. Spillman, veteran member of the Elkhart police department, died at 10:15 p.m. Friday at her home, 1115 Strong avenue. She had been ill for several years of cancer, and had been bedfast for the last 20 weeks. Mrs. Spillman was born April 30, 1885, at Marlette, Mich., the daughter of James E. and Mary Ann Thompson. Her marriage to Mr. Spillman took place in 1910, and they established their home in Elkhart after he returned from military service in 1919. Only a short time ago Mrs. Spillman was visited by her sister, Mrs. Ellen Davis, of near Portland, Ore., whom she had not seen in 40 years. Mrs. Davis came to this city with another sister, Mrs. Martha Long, of Memphis, Tenn. Mrs. Elizabeth Hall of Silverwood, Mich., a third sister, was already at the Spillman home. The occasion marked the first time the four had been together since Mrs. Davis went to Oregon. In addition to the sisters, named and her husband, Mrs. Spillman is sur! vived by two other sisters, Mrs. Ethel Rump and Mrs. Verna Courtemanche of Pontiac, Mich., and a brother, William Thompson, of Pontiac. Spillman, whose death was reported Saturday, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Charles Walley Chapel, 126 South Second street, in charge of the Rev.
