Matchette Jan. 22, 1891 Bourbon Mirror We were called upon this week to announce the death of Dr. William C. Matchett, of Pierceton, Ind., which occured at the place last Thursday, after a brief illness of about two weeks. He was the oldest son of Dr. William J. Matchette, and was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, May 21, 1821, making him now past 69 years of age. While quite young his parents removed to Indiana, first to Clark County, afterward to Wayne County, where, after a residence of some years they finally located at Goshen, Elkhart County. Associated with his father he there began the practice of medicine and was actively engaged in the practice of his profession for about twenty-five years in that county. He removed to Bourbon in the fall of 1804, and lived here about three years, during which time he acquired considerable property interest here, which he has largely retained. In 1867 he removed to Pierceton, where he has since resided. Some four years ago he opened a banking office there called People's Bank, which he had charge of at the time of his last sickness. He leaves a wife and seven children, four sisters and a brother, Dr. A. C. Matchette of this place. He was a temperate, well controlled man, whose integrity was never found lacking. How firmly grounded his character for honor and honesty can not be adequately expressed.
