Do you mean to do a Google search? If so, while a key word search of <Bristol California Mining and Trading Association> returns many hits, an exact search returns none. In any event, “Bristol” refers to the town of Bristol in Washington Township, Elkhart County, Indiana, and the obituary for Samuel P. Judson reports him dying “one hundred miles east of Fort Laramie, in the Indian Territory”. Clearly, the <Bristol California Mining and Trading Association> was traveling overland and the title of “Captain” is meant in the sense of chief or leader and not of ship captain.
