Surnames: Burns Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vh.2ADI/2090 Message Board Post: I have been trying to find information on the father of Torrens Burns who appears on the Elkhart County, Indiana CRIMP Project Index Elkhart Probate Records B255 Burns, Torrens 11 M-48 E.R. Biggs - Admr. His father as far as I have found in a bio of Torrens son Dr. George Burns of Lafayette Indiana, stated that his grandfather was Harvey Burns who came from Ireland of Scottish parents to Penn. then to Ky. Harvey was in the war of 1812 and died in Ky. at the age of 115, in 1863. I can find nothing to prove or support any of this. My search is if he is mentioned in an obit or other Torrens Burns papers. I have beaten the census records, obits, pension request, etc. of Ky. Till they are mush and cannot find a Harvey Burns who fits. My info shows him dying in Ky. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Rob Burns

Surnames: Petrich, Reiter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vh.2ADI/2089 Message Board Post: This family arrived on the steamship Karlsruhe in Baltimore on 19 Mar 1892. grandmother Elisabeth Petrich age 65 daughter Adelina Petrich age 37 grandson Robert Petrich age 3 They last lived at Mogilne, Germany and were destined for Illinois. It is my belief that this is the mother (nee Reiter), sister, and nephew of Julius Robert Petrich that came to Marshall Co, IL a year later. Robert died in Osceola Co, IA in 1987, but he was living with Uncle Julius in 1900 census records in Marshall Co, IL. I haven't found a census reference for Elisabeth or Adelina. According to his Social Security application, Robert was born to Adeline Petrich and an unknown father on 27 Apr 1888 in Elkhart, IN. Though his birthplace seems invalid, there still might be a tie to Elkhart. Does anybody know of a reference to this Petrich family in Elkhart? I assume it would be between their immigration in 1892 and when Robert was living without mother and grandmother but with Uncle Julius Petrich in 1900.
