Hansing of Elkhart, Indiana was killed April 21, 1942, while serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He is officially listed as missing or buried at sea and his name appears on the “Tablets of the Missing” at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life and especially to locate family members still living so we can send them the free photographs of the memorial. Remember, if he is missing or buried at sea THERE IS NO GRAVE but we will gladly send photos of the memorial to their families. I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County Indiana residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information of nearly a thousand servicemen from Indiana killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines. http://fizkid.tripod.com/ We visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. Please help us find the families that might be still living of the men that gave their lives for our freedoms. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date. These are the most helpful in finding the families. If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times. Classification: Cemetery Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vh.2ADI/2132 Message Board Post: Historic Atlas Of Indiana Counties (1876) http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/in_map/in_index.html The Zone 1-11 Atlas is a complete set of 1876 Indiana county maps. Each Zone consists of a series of 8 or more bordering county maps making up all 92 Indiana counties. Each Zone Atlas contains high resolution scanned images of vintage 19th century county maps that are presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). All (11) individual Indiana Zones also available separately. Each county map includes the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * racetracks, fairgrounds and picnic groves * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms -and much more The Historic Atlas of Indiana series may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Indiana places and place names. Many 19th century sites no longer appear on contemporary maps and or have been obscured with time. The Historic Atlas Series CD's provide researchers with the means to quickly search 19th century maps when searching for extinct Indiana places. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas; and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. The map data has been created and configured using Adobe Acrobat Reader (6.0) for MS Windows (98, 98SE, XP, NT and 2000). The maps may be viewed in earlier and the latest versions of the software as well; however, optimum use of the data can be expected using the Adobe Reader 6.0 that is included on this CD. Details on early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of the Adobe PDF formatting, these documents may be inspected at high levels of magnification without additional digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. Follow the links below for other Atlas CD's available for the states of IA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MN, OH, PA and WI. Also seen on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com/Historic-Atlas-Series-by-HAR?refid=store Thanks for reading and good luck with your research! Rich Historic Atlas Series http://www.historic-atlas-series.com

Hi! I am trying to locate information on Harold A. Yunker, the first husband of Jean Holderman Miller (Mrs. Herman Miller). I have been told that Harold YUNKER ID# 35966027 was killer in action in the Philippines in 1945. Unfortunately, his name does not show up on the American Cemetery list in the Philippines. I would, also, like to contact anyone who might be related to the Herman and Jean Miller or anyone who knows of the family. Jean Holderman's parents were Grover C and Estella (Beasocker ? sp.) Holderman of the Wakarusa area, IN. Thanks for any help. Joe Murnane Williamson, NY
