Can anyone supply the correct date for James F. Curtiss' death? It was either Sept 15, 1875 or Sept. 16, 1875. He was buried in Grace Lawn Cemetery and his wife was Lucille. He served in Co. I of the 44th Indiana during the Civil War. Thanks for any help!
Emanuel M. Carpenter served in Co. I of the 44th Indiana during the Civil War, enrolling in 1861 at age 35. His wife was Rebecca. He either died Feb. 1887 or Jan. 28, 1877. Can anyone help me determine which is correct? He may be buried at Grace Lawn Cemetery. Or is it Gracelawn? When did he marry? Thank you for any assistance!
I have a very old photo that I would like to confirm as the 70 acre Kantz family farm house that was located approx. 1.5 miles NW of Bristol in the mid-late 1880s. On the 1874 plat map, the house and barn appear at the SE corner of route 21 and 104 intersection. I can e-mail the photo of the house and 1874 plat map to anyone that may be able to recognize the property. Many of the Kantz family lived in the area from 1866 to 1892. Thanks for you help.
Folks, My pictures of a couple of tombstones didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped so I'm hoping that someone can look them up for me. Jacob Long and his wife Anna, both buried in Brown Cemetary. Jason Long
I wonder if anyone would be interested in a cemetery book look up for my ancestor, Martia Jane Patterson (nee White)born in Canada in 1853, who would have died in 1912 in Elkhart Indiana. sincerely, Lynn Goutouski Ontario Canada
Hello, I just joined the list and I would like to inroduce myself. My name is Beth and I have subscribed off and on to the list. This time I figured I would participate more, since I have more time to research. My family names are Blough and Stockmaster. I have lived in Elkhart County over 25 years and my Grandpaprents and Mom lived in Goshen from the 40's to the 80's. They have passed away now, and I'm the last of the family here in Elkhart County. The family is buried in Violett Cemetery. The Bloughs were in laws to the Stockmasters, where Mary Stockmaster Blough was my Aunt (mother's sister). That's enough for now!! I am looking to identify and track the ancestors and descendants of the John ADAMS family shown in the 1830 Elkhart IN census. Next to the listing of this John ADAMS family is shown Asa ADAMS or perhaps Ala ADAMS family. This second family listing most likely related to the John ADAMS family. John is shown as being between the ages of 50 and 60. Thank you for your help. Perry Adams San Carlos, California
Hi, Does anyone have ANYTHING on Viola May Hoover married Samuel Russell Love about 1917? Thanks, Vicki
This is a big thank-you to all of you who helped me with information before my research trip to the Goshen area last weekend. I found the Archives on Welden, and Sam White was most helpful, as were the ladies in the microfilm area. I narrowed my gggrandfather's dod to within a week in Oct of 1855 and I think I may have to settle for that. It seems strange that I can not find a burial site for either he or his wife. (William M. Ritchey and wife, Catherine (she died in Jan of 1850)). I did find quite a bit on the guardianship of my ggrandmother and her siblings in the probate packet. The historian at the Historical Society in Bristol was also most helpful. At her suggestion, I have written to the Health Dep't for some death dates so I can try to find obits on a few folks who died in the 20th Century. If and when I do get death dates, are there some good websites to look for Elkhart Co. Obits? Again, you are a great bunch! Thanks, Peggy Straughen
OOPS - this left prematurely! Agreed - Clara Whan has done an amazing job with the Noble County, IN site - it's at http://www.rootsweb.com/~innoble/. Elkhart County does have the Online Index of Cemeteries of Elkhart County, Indiana Volumes I - III (1991) at http://www.rootsweb.com/~inelkhar/cemindex.htm. It's the index to the first three volumes of the Elkhart County Genealogical Society's cemetery books. -----Original Message----- From: Jason Long [mailto:sturmvogel_66@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, June 18, 2004 10:40 AM To: INELKHAR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [INELKHAR] Oak Park Cemetary, Noble Co., IN Folks, All cemetaries in Noble Co. are indexed on the excellent Noble Co. This might save y'all a bunch of time as it certainly did for me since families often moved between counties, although only a few miles geographically. It would be very nice if Elkhart Co. did much the same with theirs. I don't have time to provide a link, but google should pull it up easily. Jason
