Hi everyone, I have spoken to Dee about copying and pasting bios. No problem, That will be just fine. We would appreciate, however, a private e-mail stating which ones have been coppied from what county to what county. That will help us keep things from getting confused when the counts are done etc.. Thanks. -- Scott Satterthwaite Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project State Coordinator http://www.citznet.com/~ssattert/inpcrp/ Indiana Biographies Project Assistant State Coordinator http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/indybios/inbio2.html Huntington County InGenWeb Coordinator http://www.citznet.com/~ssattert/HiGenWeb.html ==== INDIANA_BIO Mailing List ==== Please remember this is a mailing list for the discussion of Indiana Biographies ONLY. Hi all, I want to thank Jerry and Bill for the kind offer to all the other CCs to copy and paste bios. I would however like to make a suggestion. Instead of copying and pasting, would it be possible for the time being, to simply link to the bios? This would prevent any doubling up on the bios counts and the problem of having more that one archive copy of the bios. I'm going to talk with Dee about this and see what she thinks. Jerry, Bill, your sites are great! They will be a wonderfull research tool for many years. -- Scott Satterthwaite Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project State Coordinator http://www.citznet.com/~ssattert/inpcrp/ Indiana Biographies Project Assistant State Coordinator http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/indybios/inbio2.html Huntington County InGenWeb Coordinator http://www.citznet.com/~ssattert/HiGenWeb.html ==== INDIANA_BIO Mailing List ==== Please remember this is a mailing list for the discussion of Indiana Biographies ONLY. All of the 275 bios from "History of Lawrence County, Indiana 1884" have now been typed and placed on the Indiana Biographies Web Site. Thanks to Diana Flynn, ivie@tima.com, for this very large undertaking. For she typed all but about 4 of these 275 and I know she has typed many more for other CC's. I want to thank Jerry Mounts for his idea about listing biographies that have a connection from other county's, so feel free to copy and paste form Lawrence Co to your site listing source and credit to the volunteer that compiled them. Hi Everyone, Over the past several weeks I have been, with the generous help of Dee Floyd-Pavey, putting together a new state wide project. It is called the "Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project". This project came about because of the terrible condition of most of our pioneer cemeteries. After a few trips to some of these cemeteries found in my local area, I decided to do something about them. This project is the something. This project will be no small undertaking and will require a tremendous amount of coordination to make it work. I am, however, confident that it can be successful. Please take a look at the project site. And then, VOLUNTEER to help. This project is not associated with the USGenWeb or INGenWeb or any other project. NO ONE is obligated to help. But any who does will be greatly appreciated. Hi There... I would also like to express my thanks to all the CCs that participated... I asked many many times for participation and suggestions. I'm sorry that my team wasn't more willing to pull together and share their input and support for this fun event. I personally enjoyed going to each site, taking note of the different ideas and layouts that each CC had. I'm sorry others didn't take advantage of the opportunity to learn about their team members.. After all, We are a team.. Aren't we? Well, I'll stop chattering away now and let you get back to whatever you were doing. I Look forward to working with each of you when or if the contest reopens and in any other way I might be needed. Thanks again for a fun week! I had a great time... Hi folks, I would also like to express my sorrow over the way this contest thing turned out. I was looking forward to an enjoyable event that would help pull all of the County Coordinators together as a team and have fun doing it. It is regrettable that some among us could not participate in a congenial manner. I hope that we are able to once again have such a contest and that the participation will improve. Hello everyone, I have been overlooking many e-mails I have received in regards to this contest. For example, I have received 4 e-mails from Indiana Biographies County Coordinators stating that certain County's should have been nominated. I received these AFTER the nominations were through, and we all know that it was like pulling teeth to get the five nominations we did. I received many more e-mails complaining that we shouldn't have a contest, that we shouldn't have a competition, that we shouldn't have it so closed to people (non-CC's), etc...etc.... I have also received many e-mails supporting the contest and saying that it was a good idea to keep the CC's as a group, a team. This was the whole point of the contest. It seems there are many who will argue, complain, and cause problems where it should have been all for fun. The e-mail received tonight was the last straw. After much consideration, we have decided to stop the contest altogether. Christe Bowerman, who was handling the Site of the month contest, received an e-mail at 12:49 pm. HER TIME saying that he is entitled to his vote because in his time zone it was only 11:49. This would have been fine, if it had not been over an hour after she sent messages stating that time was almost up. It also would have been fine if the voting had only been for a day, but this has been going on for a week! We are not going to allow arguing and complaining over an hours difference here. This person had not nominated anyone, and decided at 11:45pm THEIR time that they wanted to be a part of this....this was also sent AFTER it was announced that there was a tie. This, to me, is totally unfair to everyone involved. The contest is closed....there will be no more contests until I, and my two assistants, feel that there will be much more cooperation from the CC's. I started this contest so that we could all get to know each other, encourage each coordinator to view each others sites, get some pointers from each other, learn from each other, and work as a team to make this project the best. In anything new there are kinks to work out, we understood this from the beginning, but we did not expect the complaining when it should have been for fun. We feel it would not be fair to award any winner for this month....to maintain peace and harmony in this team the contest is temporarily closed. If you feel you have something to say about this, please e-mail me privately and we can discuss it. I would like to say thank you to all the CC's who participated, and to those who didn't complain. Thank you very much, Dee Floyd Pavey Indiana Biographies State Coordinator http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/indybios.inbio2.html ==== INDIANA_BIO Mailing List ==== Please remember this is a mailing list for the discussion of Indiana Biographies ONLY. And The Winner Is..... Bummer... it was a tie.. A tie between Lawrence and Crawford Counties.... After Speaking With the State Cooridinator; Dee and the Assistant State Coordinator; Scott we have decided that the best way to handle this situation is to allow the CCs to decide if there should be a tie breaker or if both counties should win the Site of the Month award. Since a tie was not anticipated, there were no rules and guidelines set for this event. *pout* Help!!!!
