Amy, Unfortunately, a birth certificate for you ancestor probably does not exist. Birth certificates were not required by the state until the early 1900's. This does not mean that birth certificates before this time do not exist, just that they are few and far between. If there was one, usually it was for a person who lived in a town, but they did not always have one either. You may be fortunate enough to find a Bible record, if a family member kept such records. But, I would say your chance of finding a birth record for this person is actually close to zero.
