    1. [INDIANA] BIPPUS and SURBER

    3. Does ANYONE have an idea of where I might find an actual listing of a marriage that took place between Frederick BIPPUS and Rebecca SURBER. I think they were both Shelby County folk, and the marriage happened around 1860. There were children -- can't find their marriages either although we know they happened. (Rebecca was one of the daughters of the Jacob Surber who was b. ca 1795 - 1800 probably in VA - and his wife Catherine Lonas aka Catherine Jones in some genealogy records.) There were a lot of Surbers in Indiana -- still are for that matter -- but Bippus is a less common name and I'd welcome just ANY account of anything that happened to Frederick Bippus and his family. I think he was a "recent" immigrant (German I think) after 1850. We know from family that they were actually there -- but very official records seem to exist. I'd like to hear from anyone who has a BIPPUS connection. At least some of this family were apparently from a German settlement in Russia which I thought was interesting. I'd like to know more about it. Lora if you have a moment (AS IF!!!) I have looked in vain for this Bippus marriage with Rebecca Surber, and for later marriages of their Bippus children that must have taken place in Shelby County. Thanks. Jeanne Surber

    3. Dear Jeanne, I don't mean to pry into your conversation with Lora , she has helped me in a few family people without knowing-- Today I visited the Edinburgh Library in Johnson Co. Since I was Looking for my G-Grandparents Shaver, the librarian said that to look in the three counties -Shelby, Johnson, and Barthalomew! It is a shot in the dark but why not ?? I did find a Dan Shaver who died in 1941 , his children were -----Clara Welch, Edna Mohr, Irene Cheshire and Ruth Schoen His sister was Mrs. Jesse Wertz, -- Buried== St. George Cemetry in Shelby County IN / Rev, Glenn O. Mills was the minister So what I am saying is not only try the county you know they lived but try the surrounding counties! there could be info !! If you happen to come across any Shaver(Ruth)/ Schoen/Henry Waldo.walter, roy, Cora Norman Harold... Wean-tMary/Teague, Mildred/ I would love to have a hollar from you or anyone out there to skoot me along again... Hope you find your info!
