We have a new list admn. Please welcome her and be as good to her as you have been to me. Her name is Barb Marshall, and she will be contacting you all soon. There are 404 wonderful people on this list, and I know you will make her welcome. I have been giving up alot of lists. I have kept only three, the three I started out with, and hope I can maintain them. Rhea, MoBates, and KsMiami. I know I don't have to explain why I am giving up all my lists, but I will anyway. My mother suffered a stroke on Thanksgiving Day, and although she is now able to use the walker exclusively, she is still not in a safe place, mind wise. Her health is generally good, and we thank the Lord for that, but after an evaluation by the therapists last week, it has been determined that for her safety, she cannot go back to her apartment. We are moving her to a nursing home next week. Of course she is fighting it all the way, and has become very hard to work with. I don't feel that in my frame of mind at this time I can give you all even 50%. Its going to be a long road. Thanks, Pat
Thanks Pat, please don't forget to send me the pass word. :>) My prayers are with you and your Mom. I know this was a difficult decision to make. If you ever decide that you'd like the list back, it's all yours. Guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm Barb Marshall and I have a lot of Indiana ancestors. I've been researching my family history since 1991. I'm currently beginning a study of the early settlers of Southeastern Indiana. If you have ancestors who were in the "Gore" area before 1820, I'd like to hear from you. Many of those early settlers married within their community and studying 1 family, often leads to studying another, and another.... I'm hoping that by combining our info, we can build up a large data base that will not only benefit ourselves but others as well. I will be posting what little info I have periodically. It mostly includes census indexes, marriages, and land records. Sometimes I get lucky and find more. I would also like to hear from anyone with any Indiana resources they are willing to share with others. Remember, if you ask for a look up, be prepared to pass on the favor. Maybe you can't help the person who helped you (don't forget to say please and thank you), but chances are, there is some one else you can help. If you haven't any books or cds to share, can you offer an extra 15 minutes to help another list member the next time you visit the library? One big favor I would like to ask: Please, no flames - either to me or anyone else. Pat did a wonderful job with this list and left some pretty big shoes to fill. I'll give it my best but I'm bound to make some mistakes, as are others. Be patient with us and instead of sending nasty messages, use your delete key. Thanks. Happy Ancestor hunting!
