Hi everyone I am new to list and hope I just did this correctly!! :-) Wondering if anyone knows where the town of CARDIN INDIANA is/was and what county I should look in? (relative states he was born there Nov 25, 1862 and was a Cherokee Indian, adopted by a white family ,,,, don't know if that helps) Thank you all very much Denise
Hello Denise...... I could not find a Cardin, Indiana in my Indiana Atlas & Gazetteer by DeLorme..... However I did find a Cardin, Oklahoma in Ottawa County, per my Microsoft Streets & Trips Program...... I typed in the word "Cardin" and "Cardin Oklahoma" is the only "Cardin"....... Cardin OK is just a few miles south of the Kansas State boarder....... Who is your ancestors and where do you think they were living in 1870....... It helps when you post the names because we can sometimes locate the family and the Township....... Hi, Denise. It's very possible the place has vanished without a trace. A while back I came across a listing of communities in Adams County, Nebraska, where I grew up. http://www.rootsweb.com/~neadams/communty.htm Some of the communities I remember hearing about, though there's nothing there today, others, such as "Brickton," about ten miles from my home, I've never even heard of.
