    1. Re: [INDIANA] Census Tips---College courses
    2. Pam, I don't know if they offer them anymore here, or anywhere. I got 3 History credits for it. It was a regular college course. Many local Genealogy Societies offer all day workshops. They have people who are experts in certain fields of research, Land records, Probate, etc., and also beginning classes. I taught some of those. I also did a talk once on using the Genealogical Helper magazine, put out by Everton Pub. Ha! My one tip there was to not only look for someone researching your name, but someone living in the location you wanted research done. Then contact them, and ask if they would like to swap research time with you, if you had access to something they wanted. This was back before computers, but it was abt like asking Teddy to go to the State Library, like she does for folks on this list. We had a lady who was very knowledgeable on Military records and how to get what you wanted from the National Archives. Now, that sounds like something you might not need? Well, you really did. She told us to put the least amount of information we could on a form, because if you put too much, and most is not correct, they would say, "Nothing here." She also said to send it back when they say that. Some of us sent in forms several times before we got the record that was there all the time. They are so much better nowadays, but back then, you had to be creative! Carleen
