Beej June 22, 2001 The Shelbyville News Shelbyville, IN Martha Hunton Martha Hunton, 86, of Canaan, mother of a Shelbyville man, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at her home. Born Sept. 6, 1914, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Albert and Sarah Alice (Herring) Giesler. She married Basil Thornton and he preceded her in death. She married David L. Hunton on Dec. 18, 1947, and he survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Vesta) Halcomb of Frankfort, Ohio, Mrs. Steve (Mary Alice) Foley of Madison and Mrs. Gary (Rinda) Lattire of Canaan; two sons, David Lloyd Hunton Jr. of Shelbyville and Donald Lee Hunton of Indianapolis; two daughters-in-law, Sarah Hunton of Shelbyville and Maureen Hunton of Indianapolis; two sisters, Marjorie Sexton of Charlestown and Grace Whitham of Versailles; two brothers, Florene Eugene Giesler and Horace Raymond Giesler, both of Brooksburg; 14 grandchildren, Duane, Darlene, Darryl, Darin, Kim, Jennifer, Allison, Katie, Ashley, Keil, Kristin, Kaitlin, Brett and Brady; and nine great-grandchildren, Ryan, David, Daniel, Haley, Hannah, Quentin, Briana, Robert and Danielle. She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Thornton, one sister, Mary Jarvis and four brothers, John Giesler, George Giesler, Louis Giesler and James Giesler. Mrs. Hunton was a lifelong resident of Shelby Township in Jefferson County. She was a homemaker and a 78-year member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brushy Fork Baptist Church, on Highway 252 in Jefferson County, with the Rev. Ronnie Lee officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to Brushy Fork Baptist Church Building Fund or the Brushy Fork Cemetery Fund in care of Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, IN 47250.
