Is there an index of deaths before1880? I've seen the death indexes on ancestry and genealogy.com but they all start at 1880. I am trying to find out if John A. Carr who married Julia A. M. Moore died and that is what ended the marriage. I also want to find out if he is Patrick Henry Carr's brother, because if so, I have his parents already and I know to do further research on them. I received the marriage applications and license for both John A.Carr and Julia A. M. Moore on July 30, 1868 and for Patrick H(enry). Carr and Julia A. Carr on Feb. 11, 1876 and unfortunately, not only does it not give parents names, but it also doesn't give any ages. John A. Carr is my ggg-grandfather and is the father of James A. Carr my gg-grandfather. I am hoping John's death certificate would list his parents. If he is Patrick's brother, he would have been born about 1836. If not, he may be near Julia's age, and she was born Jan. 1847. I am not sure if they lived in Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co or somewhere else. They were married there and Julia married Patrick there. Hello Renee..... Have you tried locating your CARR's in the 1850 Census..... You mention that you know who Patrick's parents are..... Why not check the 1850 Census and perhaps you will find your answer about John. Yes, I have found them on the 1850 census, but I don't know if this John is the John Carr that married Julia A. Moore. There are many John Carr's in Indiana and Patrick and his brother started out in Ohio in Auglaize County. Patrick ended up in Indiana. I'm not sure that his brother John did, or if it was just a coincidence that she married two men named Carr. Thanks for the tip though! Every little bit helps.
