I am subscribed to Ancestry. out of all the websites I have tried, this is the only one I really wanted to stick with. I do pay the fees, to me, one way or another it has payed off. I can search for my family, or if I am frustrated at a brick wall, help those on mail lists i belong to. Ancestry lets you list your sources on your trees, allows you to add notes, allows others to see if you have anyting more. if a tree has no sources/descendants/ancestors/notes- i don't touch it, won't help me at all. is easy to differenciate if you know how. YOu post what you want seen Alot of ancestry is free(maybe for a time) an alot is covered by people like me, who will help, who have c/d's, other records. I am not here to support any website, each of us finds our own favorite/best place to search, and hopefully we share that site, but I do not think posting my family tree online is a bad thing. Doing so, and searching others have found me cousins, friends, and the one person who started this all for me, who I had not met yet, till I started searching. Was a very nice suprise to run into her. Here is my opinion, if ya don't post your tree, something may go wrong with someone else researching/ least if you post your info, its correct till you stop upating, if no one else takes your notes, maybe a cousin/g,g,g grandson/daughter down the road will find your info, and finish it. What could hurt putting it online?
