This is just a shot in the dark -- but I saw your posting that said in part: - - - - > George Young has a picture of this statue on his web site. Its from a well > known book of the area. He had been born and raised in Virginia, was a Quaker, but must have believed deeply in the Union cause as he served twice in the Civil War. Near the beginning of the War, he had come from VA to Indiana -- served for Indiana -- then later for Iowa. That information came from one of his descendants -- and I believe that the entry below record his service for Indiana. His descendant says that Benjamin became ill, was discharged, and returned to Indiana before going on to Iowa to join a brother living there -- where he substituted for another man and went back to the war. I'm guessing that Benjamin Gibson Young (always known as "Gib" or "Gibson") had family in Indiana -- probably in the Peru area. Does anyone recognize these Youngs? ====== INDIANA SERVICE RECORD Residence Peru IN; Enlisted on 8/4/1862 as a Private. On 8/4/1862 he mustered into "C" Co.
