(E.R. The commands were changing often, he saw his younger brother captured at a border crossing by soldiers and could never locate him after that without putting himself in danger. I think the year may have been 1903 and he went by the name of Izor Mitrovich. My grandfather never talked about his parents, only other young men like himself trying to get far away from the war. He knew that it would hit Warsaw and neighboring countries before to long. Told others that he spoke some German, Hungarian, Austrian and was able to get by. I have found his Registration Card but I think it may be a voter registration card. His name on this card was Walter Chromie. My grandmothers name was Anna Christine Marek and married my grandfather in LaPorte Indiana. Anna had one brother that I know of named John Marek. John Marek had a son also named John Marek who either worked in a shop that made picture frames or he owned the shop. My grandmother may have also had a sister that moved to maybe Argentina. 3. It is online at Ancestory.com Indiana Gold Star Honor Roll, 1914-18 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/5182.htm You have to be a paid member to view it and they didn't include the soldier's portraits. Also, some counties produced their own Gold Star memorial books I scanned the Vanderburgh County book, Sons of Men, and have the bios & photos online at: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/in/county/vanderburgh/bios_ww1.html Sample Bio http://www.usgennet.org/usa/in/county/vanderburgh/som_bio/som_pm.html -Chris At 09:03 AM 3/28/01 +0000, you wrote: >Thanks Jackie!! >I would appreciate the referal if there is any on Karl J.
