Well I wondered why I was not getting any mail from this list. Forgot to resub my new email address. I happen to have a page of Wells Co. Marriage Records from 1837-1861, that starts with Stites and goes to Wright,Peter. Nothing else either, just this one page. But if you think you have a person from that time period and those names inbetween. let me know and I will check it out for you. Pat H. listadmn of Indiana-L reaghgeny@home.com
Hello, I am new to the Indiana mail list. I have found where my family first came into Indiana in Miami county. The problem is... they stayed in Indiana, but they moved around to a lot of differents counties. If anyone is doing research from 1870 to 1900 and happens to run across this family, would you please send me any info you might have? I am homebound and can not travel to do census like I once could and it would help me a great deal. Thank you. 1870, July census Miami Co, Indiana, page 151, FHC film #545842 Peru Township, household #20 Holman, Calvin 33 OH laborer (no real estate) Waity A. 34 OH keeping house Leander 6 IN Alexander 6 IN Sarah E. 5 IN John 1 IN

Marine I was up there about 6 months ago and you are able to park in front on the Health Dept. for 20 min without any trouble so the sign said, I was there for about 40 min and had no problems myself but I do have handycapt plates. If you have this many to find I would strongly say to park in a garage there and then go over to the Health Dept. just to save you some $$$ Bob Crosley Indiana SEMPER FI all the way...retired SSGT 1st Marine Div. I think they are on Washington, and there is the circle center mall that has parking for a reasonable price, and that is where we went when we had to go get my husbands birth certificate. Its only a couple of block's West of the health Dept. The problem now it the senate is in session, and the parking is full close to the buildings where they are. Listers: I understand that Parking is a problem in downtown Indpls. while in State Board of Health Vital Records section. It is located in the old Wasson Bldg. near the Circle. When a person is buying several death records it takes a long while. Does one park on street and keep going back to deposit coins? Is there a limit of how long one is permitted to park on street? They formerly were on West side near I.U.P.U.I., and parking was available. Please advise because I have 5 or 6 certificates to purchase, which I'm certain Hlth.Dpt. will have. Thank you, Marine45 Semper Fi
Joanne, Thank you for posting this!!! I think this is a part of my Atwoods, as they were in Vermillion Co. for awhile and there were tons of James and Williams throughout my tree. Could you give me a little more info, like where I could go to see this info, etc? I missed the postings in March....too much going on. Where did you find the manuscript by William Atwood? I am so glad you are constantly on the lookout for info!!!! I appreciate it! Carol Keppen researching Atwoods/Hardings, Logansport, IN
Phyllis and Melinda -- congratulations! A much deserved honor. I've had personal correspondence with both of you, and Phyllis has somehow found time to even snail mail some much-needed material to me in the past. The website itself is (as we all know) the best out there. And it seems like there is something every day on the mailing list that is useful, interesting, thought provoking, or all three. As an example: Just this morning, Phyllis' response to someone else's question about minor children has gone a long way toward solving a seemingly hopeless puzzle in my own family. The information that "Mothers were not granted guardianship of their own children unless a gentleman would and could post security." was new information for me in that I thought this was only true in the previous century. I had no idea it was true in Indiana in the 1800's. That explains a great deal about one family group I've been working on lately. Thanks again to all concerned with the website! Sincerely, Jeanne Surber
