    3. I agree it's a great site and hard to get into. I finally found I could log in after midnight Sat. and also had success early Sunday morning at around 10AM. Found arrival records for my grandmother, my great grandmother and two of my great uncles. I sure wish someone or some organization would digitize all the other ship's passenger lists. I still have blanks on arrival and naturalization on my grandfather John Robert Konrad. 1. Re: [INDIANA] Ellis Island Records 1892-1924
    2. Thanks, Susie, I have been on the site since Friday and while I have not found the person I looking for, I have learned a few things. Mostly I have learned there are many misspellings and typos that will prevent you from finding someone. I have searched 16 variations of Carnivale, alone! On the Italian list, they say German names are murdered too. You gave me a good idea abt looking at the whole manifest. My father-in-law came at the end of 1901; no luck with him so far. But there is a family who came in Jan of 1901 from the same place! I skipped them because he was not supposed to have come with family of his own surname but his Mother's relatives. (three children, under 14 came and never saw their parents again!) Now I want to see who this family came to see and where they were headed. Thanks for reminding me. Carleen

    1. [INDIANA] Ellis Island Records 1892-1924
    2. For those of you who asked about the site and others who may be interested here is what I know about it. It is very difficult to get into at the present. I think it will just take time for them to get the kinks out and for all of the rush to try the site to get over with. I remember similar problems getting on when the LDS Family Search site opened. I have an e-mail in to the site but still no answer from them. Last night after days of trying at all hours I finally did get into the site at 2 a.m. and the first ancestor I found included all sorts of information. After that I had problems and constantly got the message--no ship's manifest available or something similar. I cannot get on at all today. I continue to get a message saying: Thank you for your interest but we have an extraordinary number of visitors and must limit access. Please try later. The address to try is http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/ You may get the busy message immediately or you may get an opening page but when clicking on the word continue still receive the busy message. If you get through you should know it. You do not have to become a member just give your name and e-mail I think is all and set up a log-on name and password. Then you do a search for your ancestor. Dick, I discovered after working with the site for a while that all ships do not seem to have an original manifest, but some do. Maybe they are still working on adding them. After searching and finding your ancestor then seeing the basic info on him or her you can click on ship manifest on the left of the screen and get a typed list of all on the ship. When that site opens or somewhere along the way, there may be a notation that is small but says, view original ship manifest. That is the key to getting more info. You will be able to open a photograph of the manifest page. Depending on the year, the info varies but may include all sorts of things. Mine listed who she was visiting and the address and relationship, height, hair and eye color and birthplace. Good luck to all. I will be away for the next few days. Keep trying or put the address in your favorites and try in a week or so. The site just opened the 16th or 17th of this month. Susie

I have index of three family memebers which would show who their children were at the time that I dont have. I am home bound and can not travel to a libray to do a look up and it would mean so much. 2. I am so excited. I finally got on to check records at the new site. It has been busy all week. Just wanted to encourage all to keep trying. Covers records of those who came through Ellis Island between 1892-1924. Be sure after doing a search and finding info on an ancestor to go to the original ship manifest. Much more info is listed there--color of eyes, hair, height, birthplace and address or person going to visit or stay with in U.S. Have to rush back while I have the site open. Address is: http://www.ellisislandrecords.org

    3. I didn't mention who I was looking for in my previous message. He is Nelson Graham. I also found out that there is a Nelson Graham listed in an Indiana death record book 1882 - 1920. They list his middle initial as R. Does anyone have that book? Would they please lookup for the Nelson Graham listed? This may or may not be the one I'm looking for. Any thanks is greatly appreciated! Susan

    3. Howdy! Here's the best I could come up with: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/pcrpselector.html Some counties may or may not have readings of tombstones online. One goal of the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources is to have a location list of all Indiana cemeteries. http://www.savinggraves.com/usa/in/letter.htm I don't know if their info will be online. -Chris At 07:05 PM 4/22/01 -0400, you wrote: >Chris are Indiana Cemeteries online somewhere??? >thanks >darlene > > >============================== >Shop Ancestry - Everything you need to Discover, Preserve & Celebrate >your heritage! >http://shop.myfamily.com/ancestrycatalog

    1. Re: [INDIANA] What do I do next?
    2. Susan, You might see if the county that he was born in has an index of wills, also check surrounding counties. Perhaps when his parents died, they left a will and you could check under the same surnames. This might work if you're lucky, especially if the name is not too common. Good Luck! -Cindy ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! I can't figure out when or where he died. I also can't figure out who his parents were or what town he was born in. Since census records before 1850 don't list children, I don't know how to look for him. I believe he was at home with his parents prior to 1846 when he got married. Could someone direct me from here? 1. [INDIANA] marriage in Fayette county
    2. David Hagel
    3. I am looking for information about a marriage between Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Dove and a man name Pernell. I can place her in Fayette County in 1880 and I believe she married shortly after that. She married again in Rush County to a man name Daniel Miller on Oct 19, 1895. Mary's parents were James Vance and Phebe Johnson from TN and then probably Estill County KY. I do not have any information on this Pernell but Daniel Miller's parents were Andrew Miller and Eliza Harshman from PA and then IN. Please help if you can thanks and have a great day! darlene
